Curious joe. Did your truck come with a back up camera? And where you able to relocate it? I can’t see it in your pictures.

My truck did come with a back up camera and I did not relocate it ,I just disconnected it. It is an option that you can order from ARE but it was pricey. At some point I will get one and install it .I did not take the one out of the tailgate because I want the cap off when not in use .

I have a swingout on my rear bumper with a oem backup camera relocation . If you'd like tomorrow a can snap a pick. It's very simple and I'm sure you can fab one up yourelf. For the swingout you only have to lengthen the one harness with an additional oem harness . Probably find all you need from a junk yard.

I guess the real question is what kind of leafs are you running and are you using a overload bag or something so it doesn' ride like a rock when your camper isn't in the bed? Awesome setup btw .

At this point my truck has stock off-road suspension and I was surprised how well it rides.I was very careful where we put the weight. When we were running the North Canol road we put everything heavy was put in the front of the box on top of my platforms ( 2 20 litre gas cans , 1 20 litre water can , a honda 2000 i generator and one of the two spare tires we had ) I didn't put anything up on top as it exaggerates the weight .

Thank you. If you have time, do you think it would be easy to remove if you wanted to to use the truck in another way? I was thinking a pulley system to lift it?
Since seeing this I've been doing a bit of research on the cap as I am considering building one out very similar to yours.
Trying to figure where to put an ARB 37 and how to mount a box on the rear door to house a hot water heater.
Now that you have used yours anything you think you need to add or change?
It looks so well planned I really can't imagine :).[/QUOTE

My setup was designed to go on and off fairly fast and I am in the process of building a box that will be the same footprint and height as the truck box. This way I can easily slide it off and on. The interior boxes are held in with 8 1 1/4 inch wood screws .They come out in 5 minutes . The slowest part of the whole process will be putting the tailgate on and off as the side hardware had to come off to put the cap on and will have reconnect the camera .We are also considering an ARB 37 as it is the only fridge I know of narrow enough to fit in the back seat of an access cab,not totally ideal . We ended up using a good cooler we already had for now and put it in the cab at night .
As for your hot water heater. That is another thing I spent much time considering .Almost bought two different ones, the shower -hot water heater ones and space was always the concern . This is what I did, because we already had the propane stove in the slide and I also brought a very small backpack stove so we had lots to heat water and where bringing a 20 litre water can . So this was our shower ,an on demand RV water pump ,weighs just over three pounds with quick attach fittings . It also works good for washing truck.Maybe not for everyone but it works good . My guess you guys think a little bit like me , otherwise we would all be a site that talks about 40 foot bus RV's worth a 1/2 million dollars ,HA,ha

Check out the IndelB fridges if you haven't already. We're looking at fridges as well and the IndelB's tend to be taller and skinnier

Lol your right on the Motorhome ! I've done the water scepter shower for the pat couple of years, basically the same idea and function as yours.
I was thinking with this setup a couple of pressurized PVC tanks on top and the hot water heater mounted on rear door in a metal box with quick connect hoses for propane and H20.
I'm headed to a semi local dealer today to see about the cap.
I am armed with a bunch of your pics and notes I have been making on options.
I want to get this by December so I can start the build and have it ready by February .
Thanks for the idea ...hope it turns out half as nice as yours!

image.jpg Just got to say @Canadian Joe took the time to talk with me, face timed so he could walk me through his extra cool build.
Gave me tons of info and tips on the build. Plus told me what he would do different after using his.
    Pretty incredible person!!!
