Picked up this Casita last night, found it on craigslist about an hour away and snapped it up... she needs some cleaning up but it was a good price... I'm stoked, she will get a lot of use this year! It'll beat sleeping in the topper.... I was expecting the taco to suck at pulling it even though it's only about 2k lbs, but she did pretty well in 4th with ETC on cruising over Fremont Pass.

Rides pretty level with the sumosprings in the back, I think I should probably pick up a brake controller to be safe. I'm not sure I need a weight distributing hitch or not, it seemed to be just fine even when semi trucks would pass in the other direction.

I still might get a RTT for those quick trips close by that I might not want to pull this thing. I'm new to the camper trailer/rv world, but not new to towing stuff, so we shall see how it goes. I hate campgrounds so this thing better like some easy forest service roads!

    Nice find!

If there are brakes on the trailer, I suggest getting a brake controller. I have brakes on my teardrop, and while not absolutely necessary, they sure are nice to have. Especially towing off-road.

I don't think you will need a WD hitch - might want to consider airbags for the rear.

Yeah that is kind of what I figured - there are brakes on the trailer, I think I'll order one up - looks easy enough to install!

I've read airbags might be the ticket - the sumosprings are ok, make the truck kind of bouncy over speedbumps without a load - I put them on when just my topper made the rear sag!

Go to eTrailer.com They have a wiring harness for the brake controller that is plug and play. (I assume they have a harness for a 3rd gen - mine is a 2015.)

I forgot to get pictures of the camp all set up... this was at a large fly-in event the first weekend in January. First time I towed the camper... from Austin TX to Lake Wales, FL (1160 miles!)

Camping, west side of Death Valley, just outside Goler wash. This was from two nights ago. Poor taco is filthy on the inside from all the damn dust

I’m in the researching phase right now, I called Allstate and they quoted me $300/month to insure. (I live in Dallas Tx) is that outrageous or are these things expensive to insure? I plan on a year trip across country so I would need to insure it full time.

I am 25 years old, my wife is 26, we just switched from progressive ($360/month) to Travelers ($225/month) for a 2017 Taco and her 2017 Rav4. We also switched our home insurance to Travelers and saved ~$400/year. Travelers was as good as it got for us, good company so far. We even included the Gap +new car replacement and have a $50 deductible if a windshield breaks/cracks.

Meeting up with friends for a quick night of camping. Testing out the canopy. I made some adapters so that it attaches to the truck. So far so good. Setup is easy enough.

wow that sounds like a lot to me! i haven't even taken it to the DMV with the title yet to get plates, i should probably do that this week.... i need to research insurance too, now i'm scared to know! since i bought it used it was way less than a new one obviously, i'm hoping maybe it won't be as bad to insure as a new one but i don't know. geico just raised my truck premium a lot, i called and they said it was because of a lot of claims in my area so the trailer doesn't sound promising

I need to call them again because I’ll be moving soon. I know that Asheville I was paying a 1/3 of what I’m paying now in Dallas.
