If you are in the Sierras....

Sorry to be a little concerned but why are we still doing open fires and charcoal in one of the worst fire seasons in Calif ?
    there are some better options.
Our friends lost there home and business in Paradise, and two family members are risking there lives today fighting fires !

Thanks for your concerns and sorry about your friends and family. I too have friends and family fighting the fires so we always practice safe campfire rules. All fires and coals were drowned in water before being unattended and made sure they were out.

We had a small butane can for a stove but it froze over night so we pulled out the charcoal grill.

    Thank you
    God Speed and bring rain..

If you have the room I have been using these portable gas fire pits in dry areas just in case.
Accidents do happen....also 5 gal tanks tend not to freez and can power your stove with adapter..
Click it on ...no smoke no sparks and no worries about leftover coals. But it’s still a flame

    Be careful for all ...

Think there’s not enough headroom to make a sleeping platform so you have a bigger bed with soft topper?

More than enough headroom. We can sit . There's no platform though
Just foam bedtopper full size, sheets and sleeping bag. Its comfy

do you have a link to that flag mount? It's hard to tell but it looks like it would work with a hard shell?

    Nice pics! Bacon? No tocino?

How does camping work at Oceano Dunes? Are there assigned campsites you have to pay for or is it pretty much dispersed camping?

Pay to enter. Used to be $10. You can camp anywhere after a certain marker post, though most camp closer to the water.

It’s like dispersed camping you can camp anywhere after a certain marker. It’s primitive camping in a sense there’s no amenities . But it’s fun .

Yes, it's Kissimmee Prairie Preserve State Park. It's just north of Lake Okeechobee

Yeah, there were quite a few people doing that there this weekend. My oldest son really likes camping there. We're off to Highland Hammocks State Park Thanksgiving weekend.

New Taco owner here - long time car camper/road tripper.
Got my first Tacoma recently and took her camping for the first time few weeks ago.
I got a Snugtop Hi-Liner shell and sleeping platform w/storage from another TW member. Sleeping in the bed beats my old suv and I must say - really like the room!
