@SR-71A I need to install a thermometer or temp gauge back there but I believe it was around zero or a little below at the Canyonlands spot. My 5 gal water container froze solid, and my Nalgene bottle in the bottom of my sleeping bag was more like a slushy. When I started up my truck to depart, after making coffee and repacking, the truck said it was 5 deg... The Lone Rock Beach spot at Lake Powell was warmer, a balmy 22 deg when I started up the truck! :) Mojave National Preserve was chilly but didn't get below freezing.

Got out for a little winter camping this weekend.... I don't really have anything done to the Tacoma that aids in car camping, but the new tires were a hit! I think this walmart storage bins were the perfect setup to keep all the gear dry since it snowed all weekend and we had the dog in the back seat!!

Its a really old Wheel Tractor Scraper (Ive always known them as Earth Movers, even though that really includes bulldozers and excavators). I don't know why it has all the extra frame added up front.

This was the first sunrise of 2019. Location was Assateague Island, MD. Add this place to your list if you ever travel to the east coast.

Doing some solo tent camping at a state park near home.

I’m cheating a bit, have a powered site and have a small space heater to take off the chill in the morning. It got down to about 22 degrees last night.

Bed tent came in last week. Not the greatest fit in the world but seems like it's close enough to make do. This was before I adjusted the fit to get the entrance up higher. The only one I could find specifically for short bed was over $100 more. Not sure the fit being just slightly off is worth spending the extra. Worst case I try this a couple times and if it doesn't work just sell it. Got it at a price where i shouldn't lose much if sell it used.
Set up seemed easy enough. My buddy set it up since I'm a bit gimpy after surgery.

We were on our way there when returning from a trip to Connecticut. But, the hurricane coming up, we got one day on Okracoke Island. Then an all day drive back to WNC.
    Next time.

    DIY Fabricobbler.

You might be able to hoist up the entrance of the tent more if you can find a way to clamp a 2x4 on top of each bed rail to simulate a long bed.

Not a bad idea, but once I re adjusted the tie down straps and pulled the tent back closer to the cab I was able to get the front significantly higher up. It is for a full size short box 5'8 bed so everything is just a couple inches off L and W wise. It is not perfect, but close.

The further south I go the larger the Spanish moss gets, Fl.

Got to keep an eye on the pup dogs, the natives are kind of mean from here on down.
