That's awesome. I like the size of it. 12mpg isn't bad actually.

Took the bikes out, popped the Tonneau fully upright against the rear window, and slept under the stars in the bed this weekend.

If you ever wanna go the rtt route and keep your mtb rigs on the tailgate, this mountain biker and his buddy have some good bed rack setups to go off of.
Check out at the 08:10 time mark to see fitment of bikes under the deployed rtt.

Yeah, it's a sail in the wind. But I retain full bed capability and actually get to put my Prinsu rack to work.

My toneau situation is an aluminum roll-up, which I wanted to keep intact. And there are no good solutions for a rack that allows you to keep full functionality of the roll-up.

[Yes, I know the ladder is not deployed correctly. LOL]

Thanks for the tip. I've thought about RTTs a bunch, but I don't think I'll be going that route. Stayed in the bed only because I couldn't find my real tent for this trip. It was pretty nice having an invisible ceiling.

But it works, and it works for what you need. Not necessary to defend what is obviously functional, and useful. Good adaptation right there!

I didn't get mine from REI but they're these. Great for keeping dirt and grime from the roads out of your calipers if you're using a tailgate pad. They stay on tightly on the highway too.

Any pictures of the RTT closed on the rack? I like this option as I haul dirtbikes in the bed.

None right now, but the bed is completely unobstructed when closed. Honestly, the only downfall for me mounting it this way would be the fuel economy hit. Otherwise bedracks are purely aesthetic IMO.

Did a quick trip up to Mount Laguna. Trying to get my son ( currently 10 months old ) hooked on camping. He really loves the outdoors so far!

That is how I was raised. Fond memories of weekends on the riverbank from the time I can 1st remember and also before from pictures that were taken. My dad slaved at AMF making bicycles, wagons, and tricycles during the week and on Friday's mom and us kids would head to the river to claim our camping spot. Then when dad got off work he loaded up with cold beer and whiskey then headed to the camp spot for a couple nights. I miss the rabbit gravy he would make on the ole Coleman camp stove as part of breakfast. Nothing like eating breakfast in the great outdoors listening to nature.
