That's comforting to see. When we're traveling around and I see young kids enjoying the outdoors I almost get emotional. I've at times given up on youth and their lack of interest in camping, hiking and backpacking etc. I'm glad to see and here these stories. Thanks.

Yeah I'm with you 100% and that is why I got into this...lots of these kids we deal with are typical "City kids"...some are very poor...some are not, but regardless most have never shot a gun (though some of the kids from rougher areas certainly have seen their fair share and heard the shots), they haven't cooked over an open fire, swam in a river, been on a horse, shot a bow and arrow, just spent the weekend being a boy (my definition at least LOL)! Heck many of them have never wrestled or learned any defensive skills - but most all can talk a good game, LOL. I can tell you I have had only a handful that have not enjoyed themselves and even fewer that refuse to follow all my rules - which are many (including yes sir/mam).

I spend a lot of time with their dads and my son leads the boys on most activities. My opinion of young folks has changed - all too often it is the fact they do not have the opportunity to get outdoors and do outdoor stuff. When they get the chance they are VERY attentive and really get into it. I will tell you while the boys are grateful - the (most) parents are VERY thankful and appreciative...oddly to me the moms are the ones that really want their boys to learn these skills - the dads too but it is the moms that I had assumed (there is that word) would think we are creating more toxic masculinity - a term I often hear from my college daughter.

This pic is of my daughter and son - this is a set up my son does to teach Blacksmithing...the boys love this a LOT! IMG_6243.jpg

The kid in the red needs to get their eyes checked out.... Eye shine on humans is normally red, white can indicate possible eye issues. Its probably nothing, but better to get checked to make sure.

Im sure its nothing, but worth a check. I saw the eye shine and thought it was weird, so I started googleing it and came across lots of pictures of kids with 1 eye shine like that, then went down a rabbit hole of websites from the UK.

Also, Im not even remotely a medical profesional, so I could be worrying about nothing, but I like to be cautious.

Oddly enough when you said this ...I started looking for recent pics of him (at night) this was 2,3,4 years ago (not sure) at a halloween party...my son is in the wolf /dog (not sure) mask but my 2 girls also show the white eyes...my wife shows the red eyes (I think...my eyes ARE actually bad)..(in the joker costume - older one - not sure what she was). I appreciate the heads up..if he has something - they probably all do.IMG_2378.jpg

Hey - I appreciate it!!! I sent it to my friend...they all get full , very detailed checkups twice a year , as we have done martial arts for many, many years, and my son has had several concussions (kicks to the head) so they check a lot of things not normally checked.

Maybe...worth a check though...I think my wife's eyes are also white in this pic...after looking at it...if so it is her fault and not mine...LOL

After your post I started Googling also, and never even realized that could show something. I'm actually going through my kids photos now looking for white eyes!!

I tell my wife all the time to stop self-diagnosing through Google. Damn websites out there will make you think an itch on your knee is full blown cancer! I hope it turns out it was just a random reflection for the little guy.

My wife is not allowed online anymore when she is feeling sick for that very reason.

Oh yeah. Because being in all that open space is just a breeding ground for Corona. NJ. My former home state. Gotta love it. Great pic!!

And THAT, my friend, is why I go to the National Forests. Even when Michigan's crazy governor was in the heat of lockdown last year, my buddies and had great camping up there in Manistee National Forest.

Been on my list for years. Did you go through Hurrah Pass/Chickens Corners/Lockhardt Basin or the other way around from 114?

Yeah the closest one to me is a four hours away in PA, but not sure if you can even dispersed camp there.
