Wow, it took me 5 minutes to figure out what list you were talking about

I always thought that was just BS pop ups. Learn something new every day! Ordered...

Now I wish I could go back to not knowing about that, because I needed something else on here to make it easier to drain my wallet

Just added toolbox and roof-rack to haul my fishing boat 100's of miles into the backwoods every week. Goodrich K02s, Bilstein 5100 front and back, no lift.
Great thread this one. A few of my spots in BC. These pics all from last summer, did 25 trips in 3 months. Remote, usually space for 2 at most but in most cases I am alone. Ground pup tent, but next is a rooftop tent, have to make it work though with my boat, talking to a local dealer about that.

Too many black and grizzly bears and moose and cougars so a RTT would be very nice. Tired of 35 years of sleeping on the ground!

The first pic is 2 hours offroad just to drive 8 miles. I always question why I go there, as it is mostly ATV only and big risk of breakdowns, but I am fully loaded with emergency gear. No one goes there period, but the spot is so beautiful and very good fishing. I am planning another trip there, as there is another beautiful looking lake I can almost drive to. ATV trail for maybe a mile, then hike another mile in. Will need to chainsaw myself a parking spot in case someone else does com down the path. No one goes there to fish, just a couple of ATV guys who rarely drive there. That trip will wait as there is still over a foot of snow on those trails.

I crave solitude. The other 2 spots I have been to maybe 20 times total, and have seen only 3 others in all those trips. Same reasons, 50 miles of very bad deactivated logging roads followed by ugly 4x4 trails in. But so worth it.

Love this thread, first time looking at it and a lot of nice rigs and great scenic places. Chance to check out the setups on all these RTTs.

35 years, 4th 4x4 now and I never tire of it. Just that some of the roads are so bad and when out solo remote all the time they are not good spots to break down. No rescue coming, long hike out. Prepared for it, and have had some breakdowns over the years but not fun when you have to make it out on your own. But yeah, that is the reason I go. Have all that beauty to yourself, can’t be beat. Monday is an easy day, local lake to test out a new fly rod and reel, on a lake that just lost the ice this week.

Is there a reason you don't just hike in? 8 miles is a ways, but not that far. Bears and stuff that can kill a fella would be a good reason.

Bears are just a fact of life here. Bear crap and track at most every spot I hike. I do a fair amount of hiking, 2 cans of bear spray on my belt. Cougars concern me more as you see their tracks and scat, but never see them. A lifetime of fishing, and hunting moose and deer, but I never take a rifle on my fishing or hiking trips, too much extra weight to carry. A 40 pound pack, then the fishing gear, and sometimes I pack in my belly boat.. That long of a hike in not for me anymore by purpose. Did a lot of overnight backpacking to fish high mountain lakes when younger, but my back is too beat up for that level of hiking now.

Very, very, nice! So much different than BC. My wife will no longer ground tent after a bear circled our tent at night, a thickly forested middle of nowhere spot, just us. Black bears, grizzlies, cougars, no shortages. She could handle that kind of wide open camping. Not to mention our hordes of mosquitoes in spring and early summer. They keep more away from wilderness camping than do bears. I don’t care about bears, mosquitoes or any of that, but it means I camp alone. :)

Black bears i'm good with. We have them here in Florida. They are curious, but usually leave you alone in the end. Encountered one cougar here many years ago. Again, curious, but after some noisemaking, he went on his way. Grizzlies though. You're a brave man. I wouldn't want one anywhere near my tent. Even a RTT.
