Decided to do a trip near Alabama Hills, but ended up switching to a different spot near there the day of to avoid snow...sadly it didn't work out as planned. Got some cool pics though. 20220101_070938.jpg

    Kennedy Meadows area?
One time, after camping at Trona Pinnacles, we went to Kennedy Meadows area in the evening to camp out and got surprised with a light dusting of snow overnight. It was really cool to see that after waking up the next morning.

A little north of that -Mt. Whitney. I've never been to Trona Pinnacles before, how do you like it?

In September, we spent some time in Old Forge, NY:

Then on to Lake Placid. Those are the ski-jump towers in the background:

And up to the summit of White Face Mountain where it was so cloudy, you had to take pics from the landing:

I’ve only been to Trona Pinnacles once; it was Spring of 2020. It’s desert land with odd land formations, very interesting sights to see outside of the city. They remind of the hoodoos in Utah, but brownish grey instead of reddish brown. Lots of trails to go off-roading on and ride a mountain bike. There was a spot near where we camped that had a slightly steep rocky downhill I tried on the mtb. It’s probably no big deal for the more experienced riders, but I was a bit… concerned for my life. Lol. Definitely you’ll get to see some nice evening sky star canopy and beautiful sunrise there, weather permitting. If you’re into that kind of stuff, it would be worth a weekend trip. Or, at least an overnighter and then go to the Sierras the next day, like we did. Great spot to have pork adobo and adobo fried rice for breakfast, too.

Yessir! I’m hoping to do a sequel run over to those places again. Maybe, this year. Also, it’s fun to explore around the campsite on two wheels. More people should try it. :)

I would definitely be interested in exploring that area both on two and 4 wheels the next time you head out there...

I forgot to post an update. I'm not dead! Truck got the wife and I through Hot Springs, AR, Taladega, AL, Orlando, FL, New Orleans, LA, and back to TX. Weather was a bit iffy on the legs from Arkansas to Florida and from New Orleans back to TX, but otherwise it was smooth sailing. Usually kept the truck between 60 and 70 and it did alright. Drafting behind semis helped a ton for gas milage and maintaining speed.

I gotta learn how to take good night photos. Nice photos. Did you try any light painting in Trona? Trona is a really cool spot to explore near SoCal.
