Just added toolbox and roof-rack to haul my fishing boat 100's of miles into the backwoods every week. Goodrich K02s, Bilstein 5100 front and back, no lift.
Hmmm, not sure how it is any different than a bucket. Any spot in the woods works for me. Strange, some trips I can drive 100 miles to a destination, and bloody hell if I don’t have to stop at the same spot each time. No matter what time of day I leave. I guess thats the definition of being regular?

Gotta know how to power dump though because of so many mosquitoes and horseflies where I travel.

True story. As kids, we camped many times per year all over BC with our family. Rough backcountry camping.

Dad would say just grab those dry maple leaves and use them to wipe your ass. So we did.

    Fertilizer in, fertilizer out.

No matter how you view it, its a crap shoot.

That is a pretty darn cool setup. I could have used it on this trip.

I get to this spot as the sun is going down. I left late in tne day and could not make it to my destination before dark so I stopped here.

Too tired and hungry to setup my ground tent, so I cooked my dinner and crashed in the passenger seat.

    Real comfy, I am 6ft 2inch…

I get up at 4am as it just starts to get light, and I get out to take a piss. Its -5c with a thick ground mist. I am barely awake, and a huge crash really close behind me freaks me out and I turn mid stream to see a bull moose maybe 60 feet away crashing into the woods the other direction. A real wake up call.

He came up the steep ridge to my right down which was a large swamp. I guess he had been eating down there and was spooked to see me when he came over the ridge.

Worked out ok though. I cooked up a great bacon and egg breakfast and coffee before the mosquitoes “woke up” and then later in the day I found this great lakeside spot.

Took the dog and went out for a couple nights to check out some provincial parks I've never been to before. Tried out the DAC tent I borrowed from my brother. I didn't feel like setting it up the second night though...PXL_20230616_025350161.jpg PXL_20230616_032906197.jpg PXL_20230617_031744334.MP.jpg PXL_20230617_152629999.jpg

That was my old motorcycle route, or “ice cream run”, when I was growing up. Would drive from Lake Placid down to Keene to grab ice cream with my girlfriend at the Stewart’s at the bottom of the hill. The ride up the hill was fantastic on a motorcycle IMHO. I miss that area…

I have seen several of your posts and was curious what drone do you use and do you like it? I'm looking to get one once I get back. I don't want anything super fancy, just something to take cool shots of the adventures I like to drag my family along for.

I have always thought that a punt boat, a tarp and a mosquito net would make a great truck camping set up!

Definitely know where that is. I spent my summers as a kid around the Lake Cascade/Paddy Flatt area, including whenever there was a long holiday weekend during school season. My folks had some land up there and it seems like we were always there. The drive up from Boise all the time was so routine that I eventually learned the area very well. Mom only just recently sold the land, I tried hard to talk her out of it.

I squat and go. Then use whatever stick is nearby to bury it. Preferable to use a new stick each time.

Low cost solution, and has worked for 60 years now.

A lithle tricky during mosquito and horsefly season. On those days, a little dancing and waving your arms about as you squat, provides good entertainment for anyone who might pass by.

That is one hell of a story to tell.. If you want the details for this build feel free to ask, but I really don't think its worth it for anyone pushing 6' tall or over haha. Don't think you'd be comfortable at all.

Speaking of moose though, years ago I was driving a 2001 Subaru Forester in Maine. 1:00 am, pitch black, I notice a massive figure on the side of the road... Wasn't until I was literally underneath his head that I realized it was a massive bull moose just standing in the grass overlooking the road. That little subie (or me) wouldn't have stood a chance if he decided to take a another step onto the road.

Lots of folks die in collisions with moose. Why I always keep my speed below the limit on many highways in the BC interior. I just don’t understand why everyone is in such a hurry, even those loaded up with the family going on vacation.

after 60 years camp, fishing and hiking all over BC and high seas commercial fishing, I have too many stories to tell. A local here is an author, and wanted me to note all my commercial fishing stories and she would turn it into a local BC book.

Too lazy, did not get to it.

My 1st encounter with a moose was in august 1970. I can still picture it I was on the road headed to
Fairbanks, Alaska in a CJ5 and poof out of nowhere big bull moose step on the highway in front of me.
I missed lucky for me. The moose was so much bigger than my poor jeep.

Love that awning! We use the same one, bought two walls for it as well. Big Agnes FTW!

Since this is a thread for pics, here’s from our spot last weekend on the North Fork of the White River in Missouri.

Shout out to this thread! I won't be back in the states for another 5 months, but when I do I plan on putting a little money into the 22' Tacoma and getting it decked out for camping. I have been living vicariously through all of these posts!! I can't wait to not smell burning s**t anymore and get back out in nature with good food and a bottle of top shelf bourbon.
My family will be moving to Fort Sill, OK in May so if anyone knows great places to go in the region I am all ears.

A few, mainly added skids. I like leaving the suspension alone. I drive forest service dirt roafs in the desert west extremely extremely too fast. Toyota nailed this suspension going 65 across desert terrain. Changing it is dumb unless you have a specific need like crawling or mud.
    A little weekend camping accomplished
