It was actually at a Vintage trailer park about 5 minutes from Julian.
My girlfriend's family invited us over for the weekend.

On our way back from a nice 2.5 week adventure. New York > the Allegheny River in PA > Toronto > Detroit > Pictured Rocks Lakeshore, UP of Michigan > Northwoods of WI > Hiawatha NF, UP of Michigan > CLE OH > NY.

All in all about 2800 miles. Combination of Camping and exploring some cities so my wife could work. Getting tired of the RTT, even in my thirties I find it to be a pain in the butt.

Did a Hipcamp last night for the first time! For those who don't know- it's like AirBnB, but for camping. This was at a little place in the country not too far (30 minutes) and they had horses and beautiful willow trees. The host met me when I arrived. We talked for maybe a minute and I had peace and quiet watching the fireflies dance in the fields. Great time!

Went camping with our church family to Olema Campground at the Point Reyes National Seashore area and did some exploring/sightseeing.

Visited the Marin Museum of Bicycling and Mountain Bike Hall of Fame in Fairfax. Got to meet Joe Breeze, designer and customer fabricator of one of the first (or the first) modern day mountain bikes. He said the first one he made is at the Smithsonian Museum in D.C.

I like Dirt Camping in the Desert. My wife won't have anything to do with it.

How big is the bike with the tractor tires? It’s hard to get a sense of scale in the photos but it looks pretty big.

Campground name? Check out William Heise State Park sometime, RV and Tent Camping. Facilities are clean. Close to the Wolf Center and Julian. If I ever go back to
truck camping I'll have to check out your truck tent. Happy Camping!

The women in the picture above are about 5’2”-5’4” tall. I’m guessing the front tire is about 5’ tall. The bike is probably about 10’+ tall and about 12-15’ long. Pretty cool art installation piece.

    Site was called Pinecrest Retreat.
And that truck tent worked awesome. It was our first trial. Make sure you have a mat or mattress though.
William Heise is now on my radar!

I'll have to check out Pinecrest Retreat. I have been traveling the road to and from Julian for close to 50 years. I never realized William Heise State Park was even there!
You won't be sorry, nice campground. FireWood is available for purchase at the check in station.

That’s a cool campground if that’s the one we visited decades ago.

My brother had a Jeep and he sacrificed his bikini top for us to play in the snow. We tied it to the bumper and we had one of the best times a youngster can have with his bros running the camp’s road. No more bikini top after that!

We were the only ones there and luckily we were there that evening, super cold with fingers freezing…a 2WD truck rolls in with their pop-up and they get stuck. Older couple. (Poor things probably freaked out when they saw 4 “Latinos” walking over. But they were genuinely thankful). We head over and helped them out. They turned around and left afterwards. So we wake up the next morning drenched from condensation in the tent :rofl:Mean first timers!!!

Then of all things, a patrol comes in, sees us, and comes over. He gets off and heads right to me asking for my license. He checks it, gives me a real good look over and then hands it back telling us to be careful as they were looking for someone.

    Arizona be good times roll.
