Tons of dispersed camping for free right outside the park border off HWY 138 too. Just hop off on one of those forest roads and find an established spot.

 

The Rack is a local company. RCI offroads... but even if it wasn't my local shop I'd still recommend the gear... the install is easy and its built tough (heavy)...

While a lower bed rack looks better, has better wind resistance I'm sure. Having the top of the rack just at your cab is priceless. Regardless of rack brand.

It's no longer made. But here is the comparable CVT tent.

If you have extra cash laying around I'd consider a nicer tent. Nothing wrong with these soft tops except that they are bigger and heavier then the newer hardshell. Also when it's cold and wet the zipper on the bag can give you a hard time. You have to be careful not to zip the tent into the zipper. But at 1500 bucks it's a great option.

Epic video! Man I wish I was closer to places like that, after I buyout my lease next month on my current truck i'll be doing more getaways to New Hampshire, Vermont and Maine area! Someday hopes to drive x country I miss that stuff though i've driven all the east coast states plus WV and TN, also a few trips to Ontario, Canada back in 2005 thanks to a old friend of mine I know i'm missing out on checking out some other beautiful areas. Sucks to have to drive over an hour away to get away from light pollution!

 

Had a great mini vacation camping inside the race track @lime rock park in Salisbury, CT went with my brother and his wife and a couple of friends weather was perfect low 70's low humidity during the day down in the low 50's at night! First time out camping with a tent in the back of my truck but it all worked out.

 

Hah. I spent most of my life in California and been all over the west/southwest and I feel the same way about wanting to explore the other side of the Mississippi. Too many places, not enough lifetime.

 

Been my setup for a couple of years now. I changed some small things but I love it!

 

You guys up in the north have some of the best looking camping pics. It’s so hot and flat down here in MS, that we only get a few months out of the year to camp.
