Man, that drive it a bitch at night after a long day of driving. We were headed to Florence Lake and the JMT to Evolution for a 5 day backpack, and I had to stop for a driving break because that last stretch is insanely lumpy, crooked, and narrow with shit lines of sight near midnight.

I've been wanting to get back up here but it seems like they severely limited where you can disperse out there. Was it pretty hard to find a spot?

Not at all. We came up late Thursday night and didn't see anyone. I saw at least 2 of 2 other spots that where unoccupied until Saturday. We had 4 more trucks coming in and that was the only spot that fit us all comfortably.

    Nice !!
funny I actually love the road at night you can see all the car lights coming if any ,Evolution Valley one of my favorites have spent a couple nights just hanging out before that in Blaney Meadows then hunkering down in E valley getting plummeted by thunder, lightning, hail, but it was actually kind of cool
    Hike on …

I love the Bend area, I usually try to get down there a few times a year to catch some great brews.

Maiden voyage (a little over 2700 miles) with our FSR Evolution V2. Stayed in RV sites every night to have access to electricity and showers. Nights were in the low to mid 40's most nights but it was comfortable inside the tent. My wife used and electric heating pad to keep her feet warm but that's normal for her. There was some condensation on the inside of the tent most morning since the temperatures on the inside of the tent and outside of the tent were drastic. Just used some paper towels to wipe it down and opened all the vents while we were getting prepared for the day so it would dry out before closing the tent.

1 night in Badlands in South Dakota. Heavy thunderstorms and really strong winds overnight and although the truck was bouncing around in the wind, the tent kept us perfectly dry.

4 nights in Custer State Park, visiting Mount Rushmore, Crazy Horse and admiring the views at Sylvan Lake and all the wildlife. Met up with another Taco while there but didn't get to talk to the owner.

One night in Spearfish and hiked around Devil's Tower the next day.

Finally made it up to the UP this summer. Highly recommend. Lots of old logging roads to explore.

Went for one last trip before the weather turns. Rainier was covered in fog until about midnight then broke free and was lit up bright by the moon.
