How well does the taco pull something this size?

 

Given your experience I'd like to hear your pros and cons of the teardrops.

 

I've been pulling teardrops with Tacos for ten years. I started out with a factory-built 4x10 and have been using a DIY 5x10 since 2013. We use it about 20-25 nights each summer.

There is no "setting up" if it's flat. I use leveling blocks if not. We can have coffee going on the stove in about a minute. We've got a 12V fan (and marine battery) and if it's chilly, we pre-heat the bed with a 12V electric blanket. Inside, it's dead quiet. Sooper easy to pull at 1300 pounds.

They are super-great if you enjoy being outside for cooking and eating and everything else but want a great bed to sleep in. After our first big trip to Zion in our new home built––when we were just about home––my wife said, "it's not a big deal coming home anymore."

Huh? I stuck her up about what she was talking about. Did we have some issues? She replied, "our teardrop bed is just as nice as the one in our bedroom." (5" of foam with a 2" memoryfoam topper)

They're not for everyone but we love ours. Cons? Hard pressed to come up with any. If it's raining or too hot outside we set up our Tailgater which takes perhaps five minutes. So... if you really like being outside during the day, it's great. If not, I'd suggest a "standie," like that R-Pod.

Curious as to how 'long' the beds are inside. Your wife looks like she would be too tall. Do you have to sleep curled up?

 

No curling. The bed is 58" wide and 80" long.

The video of that little 4x8 I built is a different story.

There are lots of companies that build teardrops. So-Cal Teardrops make fine trailers along with Cozy Cruiser, TC Teardrops, Teardrops NW. Camp-Inn is probably the cream of the crop.

Much better than I would expect, pulled great through the mountains and about 60-65 on the interstate. The wind was kicking which didn't help much,

Sounds good thanks. I don't usually go above 65 when I tow mine. It can easily pull it at 70 but the tires aren't rated that high for very long so I knock it down to 65. It's safer to go that speed when pulling anything honestly. We may look into a larger one in a few years, but I don't know what size just yet.
