That's fine. I've seen other vehicles do same thing after pressure wash. Moisture gets in the sensor. 30 min at 250* in oven would fix them right up.

Mmmmmmm show me a 2nd gen owner who secretly dreams of owning a 3rd gen... cause idk if I've ever met one. I half considered buying one.. the auto trans is absolute shit. Was going for a MT pro in cement and ended up with a tundra after a test drive.

You want to know acceleration... drive a tundra!

The 2nd gen had a hand full of problems as does the 3rd. Most are minor quality control issues that can and will be fixed by Toyota... It's just damn annoying to deal with... I can understand why people are frustrated.

Man I was considering buying one of these in a few years, but they're having more problems new than my antique of a Tacoma has in 21 years.

Truck is barely in its second year. The kinks will get ironed out soon enough and then it will be nearly perfect.

Mine is from the second year of production as well haha. Actually the first full year, they came out on 1995.5

We will have to wait and see how these things prove themselves after the initial flaws are worked out. It's a shame that there seems to be a good number of them.

Some guys that get kinda far off the beaten path carry a spare sensor just in case.

Crap... I've got an early 2016 BBP Limted and I'll break 17,000 miles next week. Hope CPS failures don't come in threes.
    :fingerscrossed: ;)

Glad to hear it didn't happen on an interstate while at speed.

Have a Tundra Pro also. 2015 Said it many times before in here and posted pics.
Use it for larger hauls, taco for smaller and around town.
They both have uses strengths and weaknesses.

I think all early 2016 owners should carry a spare CPS. It's looking like a matter of when, not if, they are going to fail.

Think I will be picking up a CPS from my dealer. Seem to recall its just under a $100 bucks . Not that tough to get at and so reasonably quick and easy to change out. Electrical connector and one bolt to re&re.
Hardest part is getting the electrical connector off they say. My truck with an April 2016 production date seems to be right at the tailend of the CPS quality issues. Could be cheap insurance as I spend quite a bit of time, miles away from anything in the backcountry hunting and hiking.

Does anyone recall when Toyota became aware of the issue and started building trucks with a non-garbage sensor? I have a May 2016 build date.
I might pull the trigger on a spare. This sounds like an avoidable pain in the ass. And it seems like the mechanics have a hard time diagnosing this when TWers instantly identify the problem. Didn't they try to do a bunch of engine repairs on one guys truck and it turned out to be a bunk CPS?
