    Hello,
I got I to my first accident today, a minor one, and I was wondering how they can repair this? I got rear ended which left a minor dent on the side of the bed along with a damaged tail light. I don't know much about car repairs, but how would they repair the dent? It's all one piece. Also, the fender flares where the dent was is kinda of loose cause of the dent. Some of the screws near the dent came loose, but no damage to part itself. They are not going to throw away the fender flares when I get it repaired right? Sorry for all these questions, thanks :) also, here's a pic of the dent

They don't repair panels like that, they replace them. As I recall from my cluster fuck with my truck, rear qtr. was about $600, probably give you $500 in paint too. New tail light and done. Be happy you don't have TRD stickers to replace, $78 each side. Probably a $1500 deal or so.

So does that mean I'm getting a completely different bed side? Will they put the aftermarket fender flares to the new panel or do I do that myself. I also have a toolbox and a bed extender, would that mean I have to put it on again?

Are you getting this done on insurance? They don't repair quarter panels unless it's a very small dent. You can either pay $1100 for a new one, painted, or you can pay twice that to have yours repaired. Ok, maybe not twice, but you get the idea. The auto body shop will put all that back on for you I am sure.

Talk to your adjuster when they evaluate. They will tell you.

Yeah, it's going to be done with insurance. Thanks for your response!

If you were rear ended it is going on the other persons insurance, not yours. Make sure you get OEM replacement parts and a rental car. Also push for diminished value.

I know that. I was just wondering how they were going to repair the dent and if they will leave the undamaged aftermarket flares on

Unfortunately the bodies of most vehicles today are made of material as strong as a beer can. I put a dent in the roof of my Tacoma while polishing it! They'll give you a new panel. You can pick your own body shop so you dont end up with rat parts.

Make sure that the flare is not damaged. If the screws are loose it might be from the impact when the bedside was pushed in. This could have either damaged the screw or where it screw into the bedside, or it could have ripped out the plastic of the flare itself. You don't want to find out afterwards that the flare keeps coming loose because something is broken and not replaced.

Is that a 5-lug with fender flares? Who put them on to begin with? I would take the insurance cash and buy a new taillight, polish the scratches and pop the dent out from the back. I bet you could get it looking basically new for very little and have a lot of $$ left over.

im an estimator at a bodyshop and looks like a simple repair to me. cant see them replacing the boxside for that. looks like 7ish hrs repair and some paint. way cheaper than replacing.

US insurance companies seem to do wierd things like replace frames instead of repair so who knows though.

they dont come painted from factory. just did a quick mock estimate in my estimating system and replacing the boxside would be $1751 tax in.

repair and paint would be $1244.

    canadian dollars and pricing though.

$78 for trd decals? I could bring a picture of them to my local sign shop and he'd be able to make some for ten bucks.
