Problem is the repair shop. 3rd or 4th time for the clutch issue and 2nd for the steering issue.
And it doesn't help that my truck is the oldest in the fleet and is only a medium duty truck that we use as a heavy duty.

Just enough to look kinda cool.
I hate this god dam automatic!!!! Pulling the hill out of the pit if I don’t lock it into 4th it will try to pull the hill in 6th and then by the time it wants to down shift I’m already at a dead stop. And then I have to lock it into low and stay there at 2mph till it levels out. An orangutang 3 handles of smirnoff deep could do better then this transmission.

Ok that's really weird for an Eaton, I'd say something is wrong with it.

Does fine on flat ground but steep grade it struggles to do it nicely.

I did find a way to get it starting in 2nd again. Just had to hit the up shift and i can cycle ot between low and second start

I would just put it on manual, then you control when to shift. Yeah, automatics suck !!

I'm kinda getting used to this cat with the Allison automatic. It is slow and can't get out of its own way but it's got good engine braking. And it rides nice and has a good seat so it's not beating me to death like my springer freightliner. Im all local so its a good city truck. Getting stuck in rush hour traffic doesnt suck, i just relax and look at the skirts, lol. It's kind weird that this cat has a dpf but it doesn't use def, must be an early version of that.

The auto is kinda nice, putting around town don’t have to worry about traffic and all. I am interested in the new Eaton auto transmission. I think the tow company is getting a 50 ton and it will be auto.

Eatons are cool, there is a learning curve to them and they have to be programmed right so they engage off idle quickly. The Eaton are just an automated manual Trans, it does the clutching and shifting by computer. When they work they are cool. But like any new technology they can have their problems. Once they are set up and sorted out their usually ok. If you loose air pressure your fuked, it won't shift. Ask me how I know. Stranded me twice, if you can't get it in neutral the truck won't start.

Oh I can definitely feel it clutching. If I remember the new one is supposed to be more like a torque converter auto instead of the automated manual.
