My pay is alright, it's the good bennies that have kept me where I'm at. And that I'm gonna be 55 soon, I really don't feel like starting over somewhere else.

I was planning on retiring from my last employer. Then, almost two years ago, they pulled one too many dick moves and here I am. I should have made the move two years earlier when the opportunity first raised it's head. God how I miss 65-70 hour weeks...NOT! I make as much here in just over 40 hours and the bennies are at least as good. Best part is that dispatch isn't constantly trying to fuck me (didn't even get a reach-around).

Heh, they gave up fucking me years ago. Called dispatch for clarification on a delivery, told me do what you want, that's what you're gonna do anyways....

Not always but being low on the seniority board I get all the crap or rural and residential routes lol. I usually am in a smaller trailer. 40, 34, or 28. I drive the straight truck all the time too. Business routes in a 48 are definitely an easier day :bananadance: some days will pull nearly every size in the same day. We only use 53s for swaps at big accounts, drop empty and pick up a loaded one.

I know what you mean, when I was first starting out in the city I did the same. Not sure if I can get back to work, but not with my old job. But we will see how it goes.

Well I'm 63 in July, raises come out in June so I'll see what happens. Had a good profit sharing check this year. Job is close to home. Hours suck, don't like working 6 days or 12 hour days at my age. Not much opportunities in the Detroit area so I stay where I am driving shitty trucks. I just try to make the best of it. 4 years to go until I retire and then I'll look for something part time and slow down some. I'm aging and getting tired. I do like being a trucker just not all the bullshit that goes with the job.

Day 2 of 6. I hope they fix my truck this morning, drove all day with the low air alarm continuously going off and I wasn't low on air. Fuking annoying.

I understand that! Definitely didn't want to go out from them. I was #3 in seniority other 2 were going to retire this December.

    Sounds almost to good!!

i got sucked into a promised job like that it never lived up to the pre employment promises nothing but smoke and mirrors.

All kinds of excuses were thrown at me why it was no longer possible to provide the promised pay and benefits.

I was real lucky my last employer was glad to take me back with a raise.

    I hope it works out!!
