Truck driver b.s.

We got a new bus at work today. Figured you guys would enjoy this. 61' bus on a flatbed. Additionally there was a CDL test setup for a straight bus, and the delivery driver thought the coned off straight line backing spot was for him and he did pretty good getting it in there

 

Rain day here. Just want to get this day done, vacation starts tomorrow.

 

Well first day of vacation! I came home and packed up my stuff for the motorcycle trip. Slept in a couple hours (no alarm clock) and having coffee. I'll hit the road in a couple of hours. I may have to cut the trip short due to weather. Calling for rain again Monday through Wednesday and I don't like riding in the rain.
The good thing is I really don't have any plans of where I'm going so I can stay a few hundred miles from home and cut it short if need be.
A bad day riding is still better than a good day working!

Do i count lol. I work for a small business that makes and distributes organic salsa, dips, tortillas, and some other random organic stuff from other companies. Im mostly help in production but once a week i get to drive up to portland and run that route. And have Salem every other week. I love it despite the 10 to 14 hour days that they are and my whole body killing me from making the deliveries and carting everything.

I just have a lil truck

 

It's still a truck and you work your ass off and deal with idiots on the road just like the rest of us, so yeah it counts.

 

HaHaHaHa reminds me of the time they had me bring that small box home to pickup from business a mile b/4 my house 6am pickup. I got home and dam near fell out cause I thought I was stepping out onto steps on Volvo

 

They fucking decide to be suicidal around me when im in it. Also thought real truckers would be annoyed by my lil ass but so far most of them have been really respectful driving around me.

This is my first driving job and ive never driven something that big a month ago. Boss decided i was good enough to go solo my like 3rd or 4th time with it.

Was so nervous about parking (more so in portland cause its pretty much all street parking) and backing in to stuff but i pretty much nailed it my first time.

Fuck my old retail manager jobs.

 

Remember, backing up is one of the most risky and dangerous things you will do in a truck. And watch your speeds in turns and corners, that truck has a very high center of gravity.
Yeah I did retail for 8 years at a home depot and in a lawn mower shop. I'll take trucking thank you.

Just remember some times you are going to have to bully someone and if you need to block the entire road to get into or out of somewhere safely then by gosh your blocking the road.

There's only 4 drivers where I work, used to be only 3, so I get selected for that a lot, lol.

 

One of my stops is me just blocking an entire lane cause its also a commercial zone. Very busy street so i end up just pissing everyone off behind me lol

But ya ive learned most cars dont give a shit about me trying to do anything. Gotta throw my size around to get anything done.

Oh ya im very careful. Still dont go full speed on non highways. Lanes are too tight and its downtown portland, plus branches and shitty roads. Rather not damage my truck, other peoples shit, or tip my product.

My first couple days both hands didnt even leave the wheel lol. Just now getting more comfortable enough to take a drink or snack on something now while driving cause fuck stopping or taking real breaks. My ass in the seat is a break lol

 

Well was going 2 hour away out of state to drop some equipment off for the company owners and they loaded me heavy of the trailer so had to scoot stuff around and reweigh. Luckily there’s a cat scale a block from our shop so it wasn’t a big drive. 2 hours after getting stuff re situated and legal I’m finally on the road… only to blow a airbag and lock up the trailer on the interstate. Thought my brakes caught on fire with all the smoke.

 

Wow, one of those days.

3 hours later then the 2 hour late departure and we are finally on the road again… good thing I’m payed by the hour.

 

I'm still on vacation. Lying in bed with 4 cats around me and a big cup of coffee, life is very tranquil and good right now. Stress free.
