Well I got my truck and trailer back at the end of the day. Tomorrow will be the test to see how the trailer is. I had to reset the pressure in the airbags, I need a heavy load to see if I got it right. So now the ass kisser that was driving my truck can have the international automatic, lol.
Boss told me on my last run to come back and drop that load, then get in my truck with another guys trailer and go pick up a 68k load. I said no, I'm tired of this crap and switching trucks all the time. She said she would find another way to get it covered. I said GOOD! Plus I don't want to keep working 12 hour+ days. If theirs more work than drivers she needs to contract it out. Now she knows yet again I'm tired of this shit. When I talk about lack of respect in the trucking industry this is what I'm talking about, it's not about saying please and thank you as your getting screwed.
I put another application in today. I think these companies don't want to hire an old man.

They want young and dumb so they can push weights and hours. Plus a guy who has a mortgage and two kids is easier to manipulate.

When the Alison Auto first came out long ago all kinds of studies were done compared with several of the common manual transmissions.. In the end the only real advantage was unskilled drivers.

I hated the uncontrolled down shifting without having a clutch to disengage the power train.

It has been years I doubt they have improved all that much.

I think it depends on what style “auto” it is. The automated manual’s are shit but I think some of the true torque converter manuals are way smoother and not as “stupid” acting.

Your correct. The Allison autos are pretty cool, almost like driving a car and definitely not as stupid as an automated manual trans. If your heavy the Allison's can be pretty slow to get up to speed. I guess it kinda depends on what motor goes along with it.

I am talking about the Late seventies! Might be the last time I drove a automatic transmission.

I still don`t care to drive one.

I love the Eaton 10 speeds but it’s crazy how every truck feels completely different. Freightliners with the cummins x15 feels like zero power in 8th. Kenworth with the cummins feels great in 8th. Freightliner clutch grabs way harder off the line, kenworth wants to stall lol.

mom sure a lot of this has to do with how precious drivers treat the trucks though.

It was the start test transmission for Alison every thing was documented every day.

It was a Penske rental truck single axle . If being a rental did not destroy the transmission it was a start,

    Best I can recall 76-78 I think.
