Very cool, sounds like a great time to me. It's supposed to be hot here but I'll get out for a ride too. I think I'll go to the triumph dealer and order a new seat for my bike that I've been saving for.

Gotta go in early today. 1 driver is off. Boss is off all next week so the driver that's off will be dispatching. The head ass kisser will be in charge. I'll be driving his truck and trailer as my trailer is back in the shop for its annual inspection and brakes. Now why in the hell didn't they do that when it was in for repair? The stupidity of this company is just mind boggling.
Hopefully my interview goes well and turns out to be what I hope it is and I can get the hell out of here

Usual, but if you had a vacation day you'd get paid.

Are you sure you don't work for my former employer? That is the exact same thing that they do. Truck goes in for a cosmetic item because it came in this week, and send it back for 2 days and then goes back for PM. And say it's past due for PM
Worst part is where we are they would send it 130 miles away to have anything done .
    Can we all say morons?

It's FRIYAY!! And right before 3 days off
So I'm driving another driver's truck today. They tell me it has a small fuel leak but it's OK to drive. Pre trip I find a missing front fender on the tractor. I tell the maintenance guy, he says we have it in the shop here somewhere. Been like that for months.

Best of luck on your job interview!!:fingerscrossed::fingerscrossed::fingerscrossed:

Talking to a few friends that just left the trucking industry .

They all say things are so strange they are glad to be out.

Inflation and low rates makes it impossible to stay in the black.

Man I wish my girlfriend cared about my 2 inches like dot cares about these 2 inches. Had to pull a guy in from his day off to drive up to the mountains with me. Once we got off pavement he flipped around and headed home. Definitely could’ve down it solo. IMG_0679.jpg

I remember long ago that would not have received a second look

Once you were about 12' that was different.

Hauling 60' beams back in the day paid real good now since 53' trailers it is a waste of time.

I’m sure it wouldn’t have even been a consideration, hell sometimes I don’t worry about flagging it. But going up into the mountains with that restriction it was best we dotted our i’s

I don't know how the company I work for does it. Been around just short of 100 years and makes money despite themselves. :notsure:

Funny, a guy I worked with actually died while getting ready for work one morning. His wife called in and the first words out of dispatch's mouth were: Now what the fuck am I supposed to do with his load?! His wife hung up. I knew it was time to find another place of employment.

Shit if I didn’t show up for work for like 2 days my boss would just assume I was dead. I’ll call or text if I can’t make it.

@woodtickgreg I know you say you’ve got a machine shop in your garage do you watch inheritance machining on YouTube?

No I don't know that one. I don't really watch much machining shows or wood working shows, just kinda boring to me. I haven't done any real machining in awhile, just a quickies hear and there if I need a part for something.
Here's a couple pics of a 1949 southbend lathe I restored. It's in my basement know. I had to take it apart to get it in.

Thanks man, it was a complete teardown and reassemble. Many parts had to be found that where either bad or missing. It took almost a year to do. In the .idle of it I ruptured my bicep and was out of commission for awhile. But it came out great and is really a joy to use. Before each use you go around it and fill up all the little oil cups for lubrication. It still has the original 3 phase motor in it. It used to be a leather belt drive but I have since converted it to a rubber serpentine belt. There's a lathe just like it at the Henry Ford museum.
