Truck driver b.s.

Some enjoyable stuff here plus empathy. Long ago I drove semi and operated machines but am approaching end of an IT and infrastructure career. For a little while I was an independent, had a Kenworth, drop deck plus did some school bus driving when in college.

Some laugh at my deliberate, careful and courteous driving style long after hauling precious kids and dangerous stuff but it has served me well. I wish the whole world knew we'd all get there faster, cut stress, and cut stress with courteous driving.

The sorts of work I did before my ultimate career has also helped me be a good leader cherishing all of our first line workers and drivers.

 

I'm done, it's the weekend. Going for a motorcycle ride tomorrow.

Applied for 3 jobs now and waiting. Didn't apply for a driver's job so there's that.

It should. After 18 years with the same company the right job will show up.

 

Monday morning. Having coffee. I hate the start of a new work week. I'll be in the rental as my truck hasn't been towed in yet. Rental is the nice new international automatic. Weather is supposed to be nice this week, lows in the 60s and highs around 80, so not brutally hot.

I applied for a job on the dark side. Dock supervisor job.

 

Well I’m going back to work today in a limited capacity. Been five weeks tonight since my heart attack. I’ve been medically cleared to return to work from a while still trying to navigate the DOT regulations. Can’t drive on the road but I’m perfectly legal as long as I stay within the confines of the yard. Go figure. Anyway I’m gonna go move some trailers later. Mixed feelings about this. Glad to be able to work again but I sure enjoyed my time off. Makes me think seriously about going ahead and retiring lol

5 days this week. It's OK, will be all ot.

 

Take it brother. I've been struggling to get 40 hours lately. I like having a life again but it worries me. Economy has effected our business big time.

 

I'm in food service. We're constantly busy. People still want to eat out. One thing I've learnt is life's highs and lows.

 

The thing is people think it's just restaurants. Think of the others that require food service. Bars, hospitals, prisons, schools, all levels. Scout camps, resorts...the list goes on.
Even delivered to noaa ocean research vessels.
