Hahaha when I was OTR with my previous employer. I was at a yard and some company big wig was visiting. Well they were sending a tlr out to another facility for roof repairs. And instead of just sending mty they wanted to load it out. Put everything in the nose and all the weight in the middle. Driver got 2 blocks and it broke in half. Their all running around whispering don't let the schmuck know what happened.

 

I saw a truck yesterday that decided to drop his trailer in the middle of a 3 lane road.

Guys on vacation so I had to come in early. I don't do mornings well, grrr.

 

Vacation time! Two separate accidents today, almost two hours late getting home, figures!

 

Enjoy brother. I'm taking a fewdays at the end of the month.

Local wesco store whse and local delivery. We'll see what happens not sure I really want this. Been courting the county landfill for a job. But haven't actually had a formal interview yet. Hoping for one next week.

 

I think county would be the way to go. More suited for us old timers.

 

That's what I want. It wouldn't be a driver's job but more of administrative. Of course I would fill in for a driver if needed, but I would be the landfill's director second man. 8-5 Monday through Friday and a half day once a month on Saturday. Training time is at least 6 months.

Starting my weekend with sleeping in and then coffee in bed.......life is good right now.

 

Funny you mention working for the county. I have got an interview in a week or so with the county for a job in their highways division. Gotta chase this one and see what its all about. I passed on the gig with Mohawk. Got to chatting with a couple of their drivers who were quick to inform me that a 8-10hr day is a lie…a typical day is 12hrs with layovers in a hotel/motel being fairly common after running out of hours……..this guy aint doin any of that nonsense. So i called and spoke with the department head. I asked her to just give it to me straight,…i aint got time for BS…..told her I spoke with two of her drivers and what they had told me……she finally fessed up. Thats when i told her it wasnt any sense in me wasting anymore of her time or mine. The search continues. Ive also got applications in with the State of Md. The old adage,”the more line you have in the water the better your chances of gettin a bite”, seems to make sense here…i have about 5-6 county/State lines in the water at the moment…..good luck to us both.
