Truck driver b.s.

I got my letter last month . Not renewing my hazmat either, just going in and turning in my form that says exempt interstate. And keeping my CDL. Got my appointment at the end February and hour away because there's no appointments closer.
We'll see how it goes.

 

I let my hazmat lapse years ago. I'm not paying for something I don't use. If I ever need it again I'll just go take the test and get fingerprinted again. Hazmat placards on the side of your truck are just a target for the d.o.t.

Yesterday we had 2 trucks to load up.
Well the 1st driver tried turning around in the fresh gravel for paving and kept hitting the storm drain grate. That took a long time. 2nd guy I say turn right pull all the way up along side pallets of coil pipe all the way up. Nope gets straight and started backing up but turns the wheel the wrong way . I said the other way. Took the rookie 3 times but he got it .
The guy inside said neither of them could hit the dock, he said I almost came and got you to back it in .
None of this stuff was hard or very tight.

 

I see it every day. Lol.

 

And every single one of them has to pull to the middle of the yard and block traffic to shut their doors do their paperwork etc. No common sense out there anymore.

Snowing here this morning. The ground is white but the roads are clear. Kind of weird to wake up to snow this morning, it was 71* yesterday.

 

I just had one in front of me do that very thing.

 

In truck driver training school they teach you to drive the truck, not back it up!!!!

 

Funny. I went to a truck driver training course to get my cdl. But I had been driving trucks and trailers for a long time. we had a course we had to drive on in a yard. I did it in reverse one day with the trailer, lol.

 

I 've seen guys with them 2 million mile stickers & couldn't hit a dock door with those yellow lines painted all the way across the lot.

 

Back in around the corner of a building or between 2 trucks in a tight dock no problem.
Wide open docks and no trucks I'll miss it everytime, lol. Give me something to aim at and I'm good. Weird.
18 degrees and snowing this morning. Gonna be a fun day. 3to5 inches expected. First real snow of the year so people will be stupid.

2 trucks expected today we'll see how they do.
I guess I'm hard on them because I had to do all kinds of crazy stuff as an LTL driver.
Now I can't even get on a forktruck (forklift).
My drive is so much more than my fellow coworkers, who are constantly trying to get out of work.

But my banana is frozen, 13 degrees this morning. Brrr.

 

Yeah, being LTL, I had to keep reminding myself that I backed into more doors in a day than some guys do in a month...and sometimes at real shitty approaches without hardly thinking about it...you just did it.

Yup foggy and 45 here this morning and headed for 52 and more rain today. But all the snow is gone!

Oh I'm here, had a crappy week. Boss is up to her old micro managing self again. I'm getting really tired of it.
But it's FRIYAY!!!
I work today, early on Monday, and then off for 9 days. Never seen this company shut down for so long for a holliday. It's a sign of the times. We have been slow for over a year. We manufacture bolts, if no one has money to buy anything there is no need for manufacturing. Trickle down effect.
when I come back from the holliday shut down I'll have 2 years 7 months to go. That doesn't mean it's going to be here.
