    I share that sentiment. For whatever reason I’ve never wanted to go to work less than I do today. Soon………
    You all have a good day be safe out there.

    Well started my with getting attitude from my boss because the rental truck I'm in has a bad drain valve and won't build pressure in one tank. Maintenance hit it with a torch incase it was frozen, no change. Had someone take me to pick up my old 18 year old truck frome repair, it got a new head. Drop, hook, etc, lost 2 hours of my day.
    But somehow this is my fault.
    I have no tongue left.

    Truck was serviced and detailed over the shutdown. Kinda softened the blow of returning to work I suppose.

    Beautiful day with a gorgeous view of the snow covered Great Smoky Mountains doesn’t hurt either.

    My last job the tool holder would sometimes forget the oil cap. I’ve been pulled over by another driver to let me knowl,thankfully he wasn’t mad just being courteous.
    Another time my first stop was SBR ( Scott Bloomquist Racing) he kept that place pristine.Whitest concrete I’ve ever seen. Thankfully by the time I noticed it I was already unloaded and they had closed the garage door. I popped the hood and sure enough the cap was dangling from the tether. Concrete was no longer white under my truck.

    Greg @woodtickgreg, you're doing the right thing. I just wish you didn't have to wait until July.

    @OldSchlPunk Thank you for that.
    It's OK it will give me time to get all my ducks in a row and make the necessary preparations.
    And for everyone else here my trucking brothers what Rich is talking about is I've decided to retire this year after my 65th birthday in July. I've prayed on this, talked it over thoroughly with my wife and mentors at my church. It's time. I was going to try and make it to 67 but I just can't do it. I'm too old to be out in the job market, no company wants to hire me around here that's willing to pay what we are worth. My current job is extremely dangerous, the equipment is terrible, the hours are long and 6 days a week will be coming back. And on top of all that I get treated like crap, yeah that's motivational.
    So at 65 I can get Medicare and ss and slow down some. I'll find a part time job, already been offered one so we'll see. Been getting an awfull lot of attitude from my boss and her favorite driver. It's just not worth it anymore. I'd normally tell them both where they can go but what good would it do, I've had that conversation with them before. So I'll stand tall and keep my mouth shut and try and make it to August first and retire and have some peace. When one door closes others open, we'll see what the next chapter of my life brings. So I'll be here for awhile yet. Tomorrow I'll go to work and get back in my 18 year old P.O.S. truck and just take it one day at a time. But coming to this decision feels like a weight has been lifted off of me and I can see light at the end of the tunnel, it gives me something to look forward too.

    I'm guessing you're registered at ss.gov? If not, do it. You can get a pretty good idea where your payments will be. Also, start the process for Medicare 3 months ahead...some schmuck will undoubtedly f&ck something up, lose something, whatever. Better to have shit in order early with them.

    Not yet but I will very soon. Thanks for the advice. My wife just retired last year so she knows the ins and outside and is also counseling me, lol.
    Today was just kind of an off day to regroup and decompress.

    Good morning driver's it's 34 and raining here and in some spots freezing rain :bananadance:.
    Hope everyone has a good and safe day today.
    Well that sucks.
    @woodtickgreg
    Hang in there man. Maybe you could get a job like I did, but not under the circumstances I'm under right now. Otherwise it's an easy job I guess. We got a guy that is waiting for July also to retire at 70. He's padding his SS.

    I just turned 64, been trucking for almost 44 years, and I can’t wait to get out of this industry, nothing like it when I started. Know exactly what you’re talking about with the age and opportunities. I deliver auto parts at night, not exactly what I want to do, but it works for right now. Keeps me in shape I guess. Hang in there ! There’s light at the end of the tunnel !

    Just got out of the shop for the same thing. Was taking it back to the warehouse. Not really a pos, only 234k on the clock.

    Glad it's warmer than normal. Sitting at 35, usually in the teens.
