Small lift, slightly oversized tires, well...
Did you have your running lights on? I always found that to be a huge help backing into a building...at least you could see where the tail was. I had several places in my route where I had to back into indoor docks. I always described it as backing into a black hole, once your tail gets in about 5', you can't see it any more. And most places don't have bay lights to illuminate the bay. A few installed amber lights on either side of the dock, which helped some.

IMG_0201.jpg IMG_0200.jpgI came sooo close to tearing off a door this week. Dayshift can’t seem to get a trailer in the dock straight anymore and I was trying to get mine lined up so the dock plate would go in. Didn’t see the useless appendage on my door until it hit the other trailer. Made a terrible noise but no damage. I got lucky.

That’s a good tip. I usually always have the running lights on. Yeah it’s crazy it just disappears and then the sun glare makes it hard to see out the side mirrors

Good morning driver's hope everyone has a great and safe weekend.
Looks like the plate is bent out like someone forced it open passed a seal. In other words left the seal door closed and forced it open to see what was inside while at a truck stop.
You know what I'm saying Lynn.

I have to wonder how much time and money that the EPA has cost the trucking industry over the years. And surely these unreliable regen systems are not the best system that the engineers could come up with. Problably the least expensive to produce and still meet EPA numbers but a flawed compromise at best.
I would guess that close to half of our downtime is caused by malfunctioning regen systems.

It seems to me that we spent more on regen issues than all other maintenance combined.

Yeah, they all have the same shit on them, just packaged a little different. Our Freightliners all started having problems around 400k. The guy that scheduled our trucks for maintenance once opined: we ought to just have them replace all of the emissions shit the first sign of a problem. It may be cheaper.

Yes I had a nightmare freightliner as well. The old freightliners have almost 1 million miles and have way less issues

This is what happens when the government gets involved with things they know nothing about. Diesels where the most efficient engines made until they got restricted by all this emissions crap. I remember back in the 70s a friend in high school had a diesel vw rabbit that got 50mpg. Dodge cum.ins and Ford diesels where great until they got all the mandated diesel crap. Mercedes cars with diesels lasted forever and ran flawlessly. Today's diesels are crap. Same thing in the big trucks now. Cat quit making diesels for big trucks because of all the emission mandates. Not to mention it also drove the cost of the engines way up!
