Truck driver b.s.

My week is done, been a rough one. 14's all week. Glad I only work 4 days. Taking tgiving week off, I need it.

Been busy as all-get-out moving CAT machines.

 

Really didn't want to work tonight, at least vacation next week.

 

I'm getting to the age that I don't want to work at all. But it's Monday and I'm up drinking coffee so I guess I'll get the week started. 6 days this week, that sucks.

 

Crap. Leaking coolant. 3am 5 hrs from shop.

Have to wait until something opens. Looking like I won't make it home today. The big hose cut into the small one. I could fix in 10 minutes if I had hose.

 

And it's cold out here. 32 degrees...

Back up and running. Expensive bit of hose. Company sending a van for me. Not out of the kindness of their black hearts, 4 drivers called off last night so they need me back so they (management) don't have to do it.

 

Well it’s good to know your worth something to them… even if it’s just their laziness.

 

Good enough reason to keep me around I guess. I'll take it!

 

19 hrs today. Mostly sitting on my butt, tired anyway...

 

Well I got a story. So I’m dumping dirt at this house up on a hill with 2 other trucks. We have to fill the entire yard and bring it up about a foot. Now because of the snow and rain the yard is entirely made of mud. Think of playdouh meets snot, stuff is slick and sticks to everything. There’s one entrance into and out of this yard just wide enough for two trucks to fit or one dump truck. Well I get up there and there’s 2 base model f150’s and one has a trailer. They are parked right where I gotta go through to get to the yard. Well the guys come out I tell them they gotta move cause I’m dumping in the yard and I got 2 other trucks with me. Well the guy within the trailer backs up out of the yard to the driveway and the guy with the trailer drives into the yard and stops. I get in, dump and as I’m driving out I see the guy with the trailer is spinning his tires not moving. Well sucks to be him. He did get out and turned around by my next trip and I got a photo. You can see the tire ruts in the yard

 

Fuk that!

 

Well my job just gets shitier everyday. Yesterday I asked for the Friday after Thanksgiving off. Last year all the places we do business with where closed. The only one on the calendar scheduled off that day was my boss. She wouldn't give it to me, said she can't have her and any driver off on the same day. I said that's bullshit as her and another driver are both scheduled of the week after Christmas. Now I told her that the only time I've had off all year was when I had covid and they made me use almost all of my vacation time for that. She said I don't have any vacation time left, I said I have 20 hours left. She said the answer is still no. I'm so pissed, I'll be in slow motion until I find another job. And when I do She won't get any notice, I'll just toss the keys and say I quit!
I'm thinking of just calling off but that will cost me 2 days pay as then they won't pay me for the holliday, might be worth it though.
Just pisses me off to no end. I'm never late, work long hours, never call off except when I had covid and they didn't want me there anyway. And I can't get 1 day off for the whole year.

 

Can't like this. When the time came I would stop showing up. Make them call you, and don't answer the phone.

 

32 and the heater fan gave out. Gonna be cold...

I don’t know how y’all keep with those jobs. I have also switched careers 3 times and I’m only 21. Being 21 and young and flexible I guess helps.
