Truck got broken into. Don't leave anything in your vehicle!

Met some friends who came down from Canada and New York last weekend. We used to be part of a car club. Every year we would find some semi central place to get together. I haven't been in a few years. Decided to go this year.

They stayed in a sketchy-as-hell Motel 6 in Columbus Ohio. There were crackheads, drug dealers and other questionable people wandering around all night.

My Taco is garage kept. It was a very uncomfortable feeling leaving her out there. The next morning I couldn't get up early enough to check on it. She was safe...not broken into, wheels still there, tailgate accounted for and cats still present.

But 2 spots over was glass everywhere. Someone had broken into and older Ford Explorer. How mine got missed was luck.

That night I was driving home and the light hit my driver's side window just right and I could see oily smudgs from someone's hands and face.

Truly dodged a bullet as far as I'm concerned.

I also started considering putting a bead on the boltheads of my racks and sliders, too easy to remove with simple tools, especially if parked for a few days at a trailhead.

Part of the drug population issue here is that people hand people money when they stand on the corner asking for it. We have more support charities in this town than anywhere I have ever been. Their money would be much better served going to one of the charities.
