Yep, don't leave anything valuable in your vehicle that can be seen. Usually smash and grab thieves won't smash to explore, they'll smash to grab something they can see, they smash for an easy reward. Purses, toolboxes, gun cases, backpacks... all tempting.

I always wanted to put a grenade in my console behind the head unit. When they pull it out to steal my stereo, it pulls the pin and boom. If I can't have it, neither can they.

Wait, so they broke two windows? This goes above typical auto break in.

Yeah, doesn't seem logical. But then again, thieves are on a whole another level...

How much was that setup? Sounds pricey for all that tech.

Yeah, here's what I think happened. My toolboxes were in the back, behind the driver's seat. So the guy saw them through the driver's side back window. They were fairly narrow boxes so perhaps he thought he could pull them out through the window... but it didn't work. So he thought about it and decided that breaking the front passenger window would allow him to reach in through, and grab them. It worked because he managed to get them without ever opening a door, and thus never triggering the alarm.

    Here's the system I want:
When someone approaches your car, you get an alert on your phone showing you exactly what side of the car they're on with live video footage from tiny cameras above the passenger windows. Said cameras start recording as soon as there's activity near the vehicle..
You wait till the douchebag is right in front of the window, peering in, then you hit a button and BOOM, a shower of mace blasts them in the face.
You activate the panic so the alarm rages. The douche takes off running.
You press another button that isolates a perfect image of the thief's face from the video footage and sends it directly to the police.
They plug it into the face database, get a match, and throw his worthless ass in jail the same day.

Then you hit another button on the app that shares the whole video to YouTube so the whole world can watch that bitch feel the pain of sweet, sweet justice.

That’s why I leave Mister Max in my truck when I’m out and about! He’s not too fond of crackheads!

Dang, MT too. Sorry OP. Best advice I have is to buy/rent a home that's 400 feet in the woods and put up a cow gate at the end of the driveway. Laziness will better any thief. Don't live within site of other people or roads. Not sure why folks would want to anyway.

I moved from the West Coast to the Mid-West for work. I parked my car in the hotel at the Omaha convention center and got broken into. I lost maybe $12k worth of stuff and a bunch of priceless stuff too. I feel for you buddy.

$223 on ebay for the viper 5906v for the alarm and Waylens Secure360 $299
. If anyone comes near your car just pull up the app shows a live stream.. If in a park n lot you get alot of false alerts but with alittle bit of fanagling with the distance settings it works them out.

What did you leave inside that they wanted so bad? Inexpensive to recover?

They... they broke two windows... but once they had one window out...they could have just...

You sure you didn’t piss anyone off recently? This looks targeted because of the two windows. That’s super risky and even easier to get caught cause of time. And where you live, I know everyone carries so I’d be too scared to attempt even if I was a methhead.

Lots of meth and, now, heroin in the 406, unfortunately. The shit is like a tattoo, leaves a stain on a person that is there forever, even if they manage to quit......which is pretty rare. Small consolation, they live suck-ass lives and generally die young. But they can do a lot of damage to others along the way, as they gradually self-destruct.

I've lived in good neighborhoods and bad. The good were the worst for getting broke into. You know why? Poor people don't have shit. Been looking for a house. Looked at some in less than desirable hoods, not much going on, pretty quiet. Better hoods, fucking tweekers/beggars hanging out in the parks and shit. Sorry about your stuff.
