I don't know if they dropped it, that guy never responded. I didn't ask them today because there was no new damage I could tell of.

Yeah, it depends on if they are just going to keep it and give me cash for it, or if I can get parts off. If its totaled I don't know if it would be worth buying it back and parting out.

thanks man, been a gator my whole life, C/O '08. Luckily its a static one so I can keep it.

Most places will let you come and get your stuff off of the truck if it is totalled. Just talk to them, and say that you have some custom stuff on it you need to grab. I was going to do that with mine, and had the ok for it. Unfortunately, they decided to not total mine.

Sorry to hear the news, that sucks!!! But don't stress to much insurance will handle everything, just stay on top of them. Make sure you produce receipts for your modes.

Thanks for the support guys, I've been pretty bummed since. Just been mulling around the apartment all day. As much as I want them to total it so I don't have to deal with all the nuances of driving a rebuilt truck, but finding a DC 6 speed TRD 4x4 is not that easy.

bluehair, I'll probably pm you once I learn a little more. Hopefully I find out more about it tomorrow.

I haven't had my truck for a few weeks because i need to replace the clutch and it sucks just having it sit there, i would hate to know it was messed up like that. Good luck getting everything worked out with it.

Do... I can help you encourage the total or the repair options. Plus if I know what ins carriers you are dealling with I can give you some advice.

It seems bad now, but each day it will get better... You will be made whole again... I was hit 3 weeks ago in my wifes Suburban and it was a total loss. Once you are at a certain threshold on Cost of Repairs vs. Value. There are some things you need to know...
I did fine on the car claim... Its my back and neck that are still jacked up... Bodily Injury claims should not me taken lightly if you or any passengers were hurt.

I had a Ford F100 totaled 25 years ago, and the salvage yard let me take my personal possessions out of the truck. Me and my buddy ended up taking out the stereo, Edelbrock manifold, Holley carb, MSD distributor and ignition, and oh yeah, a pair of sunglasses.

Dude that sucks big time.. I dont even wanna know how I would react to some dumbass if they wrecked/totaled my truck.. I went off on a guy that pulled out if front of me 3 months after I got my truck, and I wanted to kill him, and all he caused was a scratch on my drivers mirror..

Hope you come out of it on top and with a new truck..

You can get whatever you want off the truck that you added. Make sure that you do it soon because some places things come up missing that were there before especially stereo equipment. It will be hell tracking the stuff down because everyone is pointing fingers at everyone else.

well I hope that is the case. Might be interesting trying to pull off the bumper and lights though. Shit I think the wheels and tires are fine too, not to mention the front suspension.

More than likely the insurance company may total ur truck - which always suxs, but make sure that you get all off before they pay the truck note off or send you a check. If you try to after the pay-off then more times than not the truck will be gone to salvage before you can get back to it. A lot of body shops are notorious for stripping the accessories before the insurance company can get anyone to it. I'd hate to know that I bought some of your stuff off ebay! lol

Coming from a claims background I think you may very well be looking at a total.

Sorry to hear about your truck, glad you are OK. It's always worse when it's someone else's fault. You are out of control when it happened and everything that follows feels like it's out of your control as well. Hang in there!

Get that thing towed to your house so you can control the situation. Knowing the area, it's worth the $100-200 for the peace of mind about the whole situation.

That is what I will do if I ever have to have my truck towed after an accident. It will sit in my driveway until the insurance side is settled. That way things don't walk away. Then I can take things off of it too if need be. Then the insurance can come get it if they total it.

    Any update?
