Sorry to hear about your truck. I have a question, "I punch walls".

How come the 1/4 rear is scewed towards the driver side. Since you and he were heading straight towards each other, you swerved, he hit your rear 1/4, shouldn't that have pushed your rear 1/4 in the opposite direction, away from the driver's side???

If i were you i would be praying for frame damage so that you can declare it as a total loss. That way you get your money and can buy a whole new truck and start over again.

Thanks, working on getting getting everything under control so I can return to work.

I would, if i didn't live in an apt with no garage, and it had to be at the shop to get the quote for the insurance company.

Well the truck is at the repair shop. Its taken them over a day to get the quote done, but they are trying to find all the aftermarket parts to replace. So far the quote is over $7500 and thats before any frame work has been calculated. I'll find out more tomorrow and I swear to god I better hear from my adjuster.

Good question, I'm pretty sure its like that from them fucking with it getting it on and off the tow truck. On the driver side picture you can see where the dent is and how the paneling and bracket for the springs is pushed over into the bed. That happened when he hit the wheel and slammed everything over. This picture:

Oh there is frame damage. The best way I can describe it is like a torsional bend or twist rather than actual bend or kink in the frame. Frame damage:

It is possible that upon tear down of the vehicle they will find more damage which would create a supplement to the estimate and possibly total the vehicle. Have they begun to take it apart?

Let's see you live in FL so that's typically 80% of the current market value for the total loss threshold to give you an idea where repairs would need to total to "total" the vehicle. When calculating the value I would leave out your accessories at this point just to determine if you are anywhere close to the total loss threshold amount. If so then it won't take much more damage to push it over.

I dunno, 3 weeks loss of use (rental) cost, cost of repairs and possibility of dealing with a supplement VS total loss, cut the check, sell the salvage and be done. Seems to me for the adjuster the total loss would be the most economical in the long run.

I don't think that FL dimished value claims stand up well otherwise you could potentially pursue that avenue in addition to the repair cost.

Let me know if you would like any help! I deal with classic vehicles but have experience with daily drivers as well from handling physical damage liability claims.

Thanks Rachel, I don't really know what to do at this point. I mean I'm trying to get a rental right now from the guy that hit me's insurance (nationwide), but can't get in touch with anyone. I guess I just let USAA deal with the shop and what not? I don't know if they started taking it apart or what, I know yesterday it was still just sitting there and the entire estimate was made just by looking at it. I would assume the repair cost is somewhere around 10k.

Back in 2000, I wrecked my Honda Civic. Hit a pole at 80. I had rims, intake, exhaust, stereo, all the mods 18 year olds do to rice burners. So, I have it towed to the house. Insurance comes out and tells me it's not that bad and they are going to fix it up. Great! So I thought. The day it gets to body shop, they call and say it's going to be totalled. Oh well, let me just get my stuff off it. Sorry sir, your vehicle is on our property and you cannot trespass. Long story short, never got a single mod off that car and they screwed me. Just be careful. If they total it, make sure you can get your stuff off it. Wouldn't want you to get screwed like me.

how can they not total it??? i would be scared to get it back, and would venture to guess it will never be 100% right again. i think i would be calling a lawyer now and see what my options are. good luck man, doesn't your neck and back hurt??? how about your friends don't they have medical needs now???
i hope all works out OK for you

Everyone is fine, I think. I'm having a lot of anxiety about it never being the same again, which I know it won't be. I don't know how they can't call this a total loss. Is my truck going to have a salvaged title now?

no, it wont just a messy carfax. salvage title is when an insurance company totals it and then you buy the totalled truck.

Salvage Auction Record — Most vehicles sold at Salvage auctions were declared totaled by insurance companies. Most of these vehicles have sustained significant damage but there are some exceptions. For instance, recovered stolen vehicles are often declared a total loss regardless of the actual damage. Rebuilders and Recyclers purchase these vehicles at auction with intentions to rebuild them or dismantle them for parts.
Salvage Title — A Salvage Title is issued on a vehicle damaged to the extent that the cost of repairing the vehicle exceeds ~ 75% of its pre-damage value. This damage threshold may vary by state. Some states treat Junk titles the same as Salvage but the majority use this title to indicate that a vehicle is not road worthy and cannot be titled again in that state.

just a thought since you have such a headache now maybe it is from the wreck!!!!! again good luck, a little damage to the the body is OK and a person can live with that but with the frame damage, drive train damage (unsure at this point but i would want everything from the transfer case back replace, new factory OEM), i would be looking for some diminished value like $10,000.00 worth just my thoughts. remember the guy hit you so do not just roll over and take it, get educated (some members have offered to help i would take them up on it) and make them do what is right. again good luck i really feel for you man, i would be going nuts (i am just thinking about it).
