So I went to pick up my little sister yesterday evening (she's 12) and she had just got back from trail riding. I parked my Taco in the driveway and stood next to it talking with her Mom while My little sister was suppose to be putting her horse away. Moments later I looked over my shoulder to see my little sister hauling a** down the road and trying to quickly turn into the driveway. I was thinking "I don't know much about riding horses but that horse looks like it's going way too fast to stop on that wet asphalt... ... " The horse tries to stop and of course can't, hits a little bit of gravel, its front legs split a bit, and :frusty: smashes his head into the tailgate of my Taco. Instantly, we make sure my sister is okay; she's fine. Then the horse; it's fine. Then my Taco :facepalm:my tailgate is smashed!

How do I claim a horse running into the back of my truck??? I'm going to have to pay the $500 deductible; I'm not paying that! Insurance is such a scam. Now my Taco has no tailgate because I removed it. I don't know what to do. Just a bummer but everything happens for a reason I guess, I'll see how this works out.

For $500 you could find a tail gate and tail lights and replace them. Search craigslist or local junkyards.

Was she supposed to be under some supervision? If so the fault may lay with who ever was supposed to be in charge. My sisters used to ride as well and they always had some one from the stable staff saddled and watching even if they were just tacking the horse.

Our horse put a nice pretty dent in the tailgate of one of our trucks... Took a hammer and beat on the tailgate untill it closed. It was a work truck though... I know you SWB guys are proud and all and like to keep your trucks clean for some reason. :p

That same horse has also put a few dents in the fenders and knocked out a corner light once.

lol I feel you, the mirror on my old sonoma got smashed by a horse. Luckily it was a 1300 dollar POS so I just got some cheap mirrors for like 20 bucks for it.

    good luck.

    The better coast
You can get a new shell (is that the right word?) for your tailgate for pretty cheap on ebay if I can remember right. If only the out side is dented I would definitely be looking into that!
