doubt its the trans, sounds like the shifter if you cant select gears. That would make sense why its blowing fuses on reverse, your trans has nothing to do with that. Should be a pretty simple mechanism you could probably clean and rebuild.

i highly doubt an 07 truck is still under warranty.

i agree with you on that. So this is in the shifter assembly? i can't find any information on it online, so therefore i really have no clue what i am looking for. Is is located where the trans cable from the shifter meets the trans? i believe thats where it is located on the first gen, so I'm wondering if it is the same for the second gens.

So I pulled this of the trans last night, I believe it's the park revers neutral switch, I was going to open it and clean it, but it's sealed. I tried to clean it as good as I could, but nothing changed, the truck is still blowing the ign 1 fuse when I put it in reverse. Running out of ideas here...

I took apart the center console too, but it got to a point where I couldn't take apart the shifter box anymore, at least I think. I will try again this evening. I need to find a picture so I know what I am looking for haha

trace the wires that connect to the shifter in the center console thats where you are going to likely find the issue. Its going to be a multi point position switch of sorts and likely the contacts are corroded or something. Also did you check out the junction point by the driver side kick panel that i posted a couple posts back in reference to that tsb?

Ok, I will try again tonight. And yes, I didn't see any corrosion at the box, so I cleaned them anyways, but everything looked good.

Any idea how to get this thing open?

    Update:
After not being able to break it down, I cleaned what I could and checked all connections. Didn't really do anything different, but for about 24 hours, everything was working. Then it popped again when I was putting it in reverse later, after not having issues.

I was able to get the shifter open, and broke it all down, I cleaned everything with no issues later, but it still wasn't working.

This is where I sit now, I'm not sure what caused it to work, but it did for a little bit, not I cannot figure it out again. Really running on empty here, not sure what is going on with it at all.

    Anyone have any ideas?

Are you still getting the P0705 code as well? Because in a few threads with that code they had water getting into there main wiring harness causing the issue which could be happening to you and why you are blowing fuses.

Anywhere to see a full wiring diagram? Curious what else that fuse feeds and what other modules get an input when in reverse.

Yeah, still have the code. I checked the junction box in the driver side kick panel like in the tsb. No corrosion or anything. Seemed to be fine.

The fuse blowing maybe triggering the code.

maybe try this. Pull the wire that powers the reverse lights out of the plug at the shifter. So no power is fed to the reverse light wire. And see what happens.

Ok so just for curiosity, I put a 30 a fuse in, and it didn't blow, I'm not going to leave it in, just wanted to see what happened. Does this mean anything?

Then I tried a 25, 20, 15, and 10 again and now the 10a fuse is not blowing. What the heck?

Are the lights working still? Wire could have been a dead short and burned up before the 30 blew. Or it's intermittent.

Everything is working fine at the moment. Can you explain you last post a little better? Like how did that burn it up?

Just a possibility...Fuses are sized to protect the wiring. The wire may have been unable to even carry 30A, so it heated up and melted before the fuse blew.

So by it heating up it potentially fixed the wire? :notsure:
