No, this is all unlikely since the backup lights are working. If it burned up, there would no longer be a short and no current flowing.

Check your PMs and give me a call if you want.

For the Fuses that did blow - did they vaporize or did the fuse wire just over heat and sag open ?

Well, as you probably surmised, it's an intermittent dead short. Time to get the Schematics and start tracing wires ....

I think you guys have been doing a great job helping the OP .
Not sure what to add but if that code has been in the ecm memory for a while , its should be the first circuit to look at . I havnt read through all the posts and links .
But I will add and continue to try and help as you go .http://www.scribd.com/doc/18857706/T-SB-0277-09

Hey guys thanks for all your help!!! I actually just figured it out!

Ok it's kind of dumb, but I will post for the sake of other people...

Before this started, I remembered working on my stereo. I used to have a backup camera installed, so I previously tapped the wire in the drivers side kick panel, and ran it to the head unit (aftermarket). So I tore apart the stereo, to find that the wire that taps the reverse lights for the backup camera, was just floating around. It was also stripped on the end from coming out of the connector. So this was grounded. Fixed the wire, and boom, no blown fuses.

Now I would have noticed my camera wasn't working and that would have led me to this conclusion faster, but I hadn't had a back up camera for months!

Long story short, the wire I tapped came loose and was creating a ground. Stupid, but oh well, happy now.

Thank you to everyone who helped me out, especially nd4spdbh. You guys rock, glad I got this taken care of!

Ha !! glad you got it .:)

That last link was posted a couple times in this thread . There are other circuits also involved with that switched fuse .
I get to wire in my new head unit next week . I will remember to solder my reverse feed wire :D
Edit , now that I have the reverse circuit in my mind , where do you tap in to get camera feed ?
What color is the wire ? I am assuming the red and white before the ecm ?

I have had this same issue with the same fuse blowing after my trailer brake plug was wired incorrectly for a few minutes. Now, even though it is wired correctly, the fuse will just randomly blow and cause all the exact problems that the OP described. Another thing is that the "R" for Reverse lights up every time I push the brake pedal when the trailer is plugged into the truck. I believe the incorrect wiring may have fried something inside the controller and causes a backfeed of voltage that blows the fuse over time
