Ever been on a gravitron at the fair? What you feel and what the poor clutch disc felt are two very different things in this case.

and the poor pilot bearing, input shaft, and 1/2 the other stuff in the box. Lol

Hm…ok, then the input shaft and bearing are most certainly fucked.

I would agree, but I still haven’t really seen any proof that dad grabbed 1st. Unless I missed something.

    Great statement. It’s YouTube.
Anything could have happened and without seeing the parts that came out it’s even more speculation.

Hemorrhage money? They have the second highest revenue for car manufacturers. I think they know what they're doing.

I don’t because of an experience where I nearly toasted a friend’s B5 by going for third to pass on the highway and hitting first. Barely caught it with the clutch before we hit redline.

I was 18 at the time and it scared me off trying that gear change again

The dad saying he didn't know if he did it doesn't inspire confidence for me.

I haven't driven the 4g manual so I can't speak to the Taco but every other manual I've driven it would be pretty obvious to me as the driver. Oh well.

I'm curious if the tach didn't redline because it's digital and may not have had time to update before death. With the auto rev match does the truck attempt any kind of rev matching going into gear or does it wait for the clutch to come out? Never had that feature and don't know enough about transmissions.

If the clutch was engaged during a 5th to 1st shift at anything over about 20 MPH, there would be engine parts scattered everywhere.

    Isn't there a rev limiter?

Yeah but its just a fuel cut, a huge downshift could still spin it up to higher revs is what they are sayin

Rev limiters can only cut fuel and spark to limit how high the engine will rev using conventional inputs.
Without a giant brake on the flywheel, there is absolutely no possible way to limit revs when the transmission is driving the engine.

my old boss let a friend drive his Ferrari 599 and the guy downshifted a bit hot and scattered a $60k engine.
