Hey all.. bumping an old thread
I actually have this same exact problem come up a couple weeks ago after I did a PS fluid and rear diff fluid change.
    I have a 2WD Sport Model
I jacked up the front end this morning and checked the wheel bearings. No grinding or ticking sounds when I spin the wheels. No play in the bearing when I try to change the wheels.
The PS doesn't make any moans or groans either. I'm somewhat of loss and ready to take it into a mechanic.

But before I do so, I think it's the differential causing the shudder. I followed this thread for the diff fluid change and I thought I would be good.
    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/changing-differential-fluid-a-step-by-step-how-to.24545/

I used the 75w90 fluid with the LSD fluid. Maybe I need to add another tube of diff fluid or just drain and refill the diff again? Should I've used 80w90 instead?

Looking for any ideas I could diagnose before a mechanic rakes me over the coals

    Cheers!

I'm assuming you're talking rear differential oil? Truck should be happy with 75w-90, as long as you did add one that has lsd additives as your sport does have a mechanical lsd. Filled it till the fluid started coming out?

If the noise is coming from the front end, and it isn't your steering rack, It may be your CV axles (if you are 4x4- also replace front diff fluid if you haven't) or could be ball joints. That's all the ideas I have now without more info. Video showing what you're experiencing or audio recording would be nice

yes, sorry about that. I changed the rear diff fluid and I have a 2WD.
I'll try to record audio, the problem is you don't hear anything. it's more of a shudder/vibration when I turn the wheel at a very slow speed (under 5mph). the vibration is similar to when you have warped rotors, except it just happens when i'm at a low speed or pull out of a driveway and turn the wheel.

I get a front vibration felt through the steering that starts ~40mph and resonates at 65. But is much greater on RH curves, and almost goes away on LH curves. I am suspicious of CV joints, but here I hear it is wheel bearing. What does the forum think?
