    Morning TW!!

My truck is due for new tires I'll be putting on next month.

Dealer is offering a buy 3 get 1 free, and free rotation at 5k service in Oct.

This will be my 3rd set of tires and wanted to see what you guys rec for a good overall A/T tire.

Truck is my DD and will only see light trails (fire roads?) if anything for off road, but will def. see a foot of snow at times. Whatever Southern NE has to offer lol.

I have owned Wildpeak AT3's, I liked the look but not the tire wear. Too soft maybe?

I'm replacing OG Cooper A/T tires which have been pretty solid for a cheap tire.

Maybe a Cooper AT3 would be nice or Michelin Defenders??

I guess I'm looking for a good value for the $$$$ light AT tire, that wont be crap in 25k miles lol, won't be too loud and will be good on the highway and light OR.

    Thanks - B :rasta:

You named several of the major tires in the category. There are tradeoffs. Generally: Long milage means a harder compound. Good wet cold weather traction is a softer sticky compound. Its a conundrum.

I ran a set of BFG KO2's on my T4R and swapped them out @ 65k. I could have gotten 70k out of them but I was going into winter. Had they been at 65k in spring, I would have ran them up to Nov/Dec. They had even wear (mostly) having only rotated them twice. I replaced them with same and currently they have about 47k on them with lots of life left.

You can kind of see them in this pic from March when I parked it and bought the Taco.IMG_7620 3.HEIC.jpg in this

Although not A/T, take a look at Falken Wildpeak H/T02. The 265/70R16 has a surprisingly more aggressive tread and sidewall compared to the average H/T. Can’t speak for winter driving performance being in FL, but might fit your usage needs. I’m getting ready to have a second set installed.

Lots of good info somewhere on this forum on Cooper Discoverer Road + Trail....
Also there still may be lots of Cooper Discoverer At3's available at a deal, my understanding discontinued.
Theyre still around for my kids ranger atleast.

Dont close your eyes to Walmarts website for tire pricing.
If you have a store by you with a car care center, they have cheap installs.

I'm running Hankook Dynapro AT2 Xtreme. Pretty quiet for the type of tread and they're wearing well. Most of my driving is highway, but I do some towing onto off-pavement areas (tractor on flatbed to work site) and they have good traction for that. Haven't had any snow since I mounted them but I expect they'll do okay.

The Yokohama Geolandar AT4 is what I’ve been running. They are a pretty new tire (as in, just released) and by far the best all around tire I’ve ever run on any of my trucks.

I have about 30K miles on this set and I drive all over North America with them. I highly recommend them for a truck that is a daily driver.

Tires are a tough decision, so make this an analytical decision by writing down all your needs and then find one that checks the most boxes. But be mindful of the downsides for each tire being considered. I went with an E rated KO2 and went into them knowing I would take a hit in gas mileage. But they are tough as nails and I need that on the mountain roads where my cabin is located.

I've never seen a dealer price, even at 25% off like you are seeing, beat or even match the same tire from other sources.

Once you decide what you want, shop around, unless you just love your dealer and have $ falling out of your pockets.

I have Michelin LTX Defenders and very happy with them. Costco has a Michelin sale through 9/21/2025.

Thanks for the responses anyone have experience with the Michelin Defenders M-S??

I've got almost 40k on the OG Cooper A/Ts I purchased from Walmart.

The Toyo's and Yoko's look interesting.

    Have a good weekend........:rasta:

I put Toyo open country at3 in metric 265 75 15 SL rating on the kids 2010 ford ranger.....
I really wanted to run the Cooper Discoverer AT3, but guys at discount persuaded me to go with the Toyo route, theyre big fans of Toyo.
That being said, when I was researching shoes for the 24 Taco, every offroad shop here in said Diego along with many content creators in the tire space all rave about how great Toyos are, they barely need any weight to balance them, etc..
My only bitch is the side wall isnt very blingy to me, they side wall pattern on the AT3 is just meh..
My other half had a 00 ford ranger, she never once rotated her tires & her Toyos wore completely even until they were racing slicks.
    Thats unheard of...

One thing ide say, steer clear from BFG, costly & not worth the juice isnt worth the squeeze.

Yokohama AT4 or GO15 would be my vote.

I just got a set of BigO AT2 tires, they have a buy 3 get 1 promo going, i think its going on again. They are made by Nitto, have snow peak rating for winter and good looking sidewalls. Should be a 45 to 50k mile tire. Ive had Mickey Thompson ATZs, great tire but hella expensive now (they are the Baja ATs now).

Another one to consider is the Maxxis Razr AT, great reviews for that one and good pricing over at simpletire.com

I put new Falken Wildpeak A/T4W tires on my 2022 OR DCLB in early July. Later that month I drove 1,100 miles to Montana, encountering heat, rain, and gravel roads. I now have 4,000 miles on the tires and am very happy with them. Very grippy on dry and wet pavement and I did not notice any increase in road noise going 85 mph. I also looked hard at the Cooper Discover Road+Trail AT tires which were slightly cheaper but Discount Tire had a Falken rebate on. Either tire would be good and both have 65k mileage warranties.

Look at the Falken Rubitrek, they're a little less aggressive than the Wildpeak but will still give you great traction in Snow and wet weather. I'll be looking for some upcoming deals on a set myself.

I have the Michelin Defender LTX M/S and am very happy with them. 1 year old now. Might even be driving the same roads as you here in NW CT. Got them after good recommendations from friends.
