i like my Wildpeaks, but lov3d, loved, loved my Duratracs. Not for the timid, as they are almost as aggressive as a M/T tire, so ya you hear them.

Both sets come with the 3 peaks snow designation, which is a must for me as I don't use winter tires.

P.S. Op, dont be afraid to upsize, as they look sooo much better and give you a tad more clearance.

IMG_1490.jpg Lots of suggestions to process, I run Michlen Defenders on my T4R , great winter tire , a little easier on the gas tank. That was the sensible option,

Since you've had the Coopers before and had good luck with them, why not try out the Cooper Discoverer Road+Trail? I threw a set on my 4th gen and I absolutely love them! I've had a couple sets of the previous AT3 4S and the new Road+Trail is definitely an improvement. Good traction in snow (and a little bit of ice) and good road manners when dry. I want to say a full set of 265/70/17's mounted, balanced, and taxed was a little under $800 at my tire shop.

Good info here thanks for the replies and experiences...

Probably gonna go with mich, toyos, or yokos seems to fit my needs.

mileage and longevity, appearance then price is what will determine it.

My truck is overall bone stock except the tune and some cosmetics and it's gonna stay that way.

MIchelin has discontinued the Defender LTX and replaced it with the LTX-2. You may still find a few of the original Defenders out there in some sizes. You may want to look at the new version in person. The differences are subtle and not easily seen in on-line photos. In a nutshell the outer lugs are not as deep as they used to be. It's more of a street tire now and less of an All Terrain tire.

My old 260,000 mile Tacoma is a 3rd vehicle and is no longer driven on long trips. But it's a daily driver locally and my hunting, firewood, and trash hauling truck. I wanted something with a decent AT tread on it and bought these. Sumitmo is the parent company for Falken. These are very similar to the Wilkdpeak's but a lot less expensive.

    Sumitomo Encounter AT 265 /70 R16 112T SL BSW | Discount Tire

I've been very pleased so far. A softer tire gives better traction, especially in snow, but wears out faster. These appear to be pretty soft and may not last 40,000 miles. But at half the cost of some other tires I'm OK with that.

Fun useless fact I guess; Falken is owned by Sumitomo Tire Co. so it makes sense that the Encounter and Wildpeak are very similar.

Cooper Discoverer Road+Trail are on my radar. Currently have Wildpeaks. Only complaint is one of them is a bit off. I had them road forced balanced and can still tell when that "one" is in the front

A little of this and a little of that.
I’m currently running Michelin LTX A/T 2’s on my ‘20 Sport and I’m happy with them after 10K miles.

As you can see, there are many great choices. I am at 102,xxx mi and I am on my third set of tires over all; 1st OEM's and last two were KO2's 265/70 -R17 size load C. They have been great for daily year round driving here in NH, so when it was time, I go another.

Not sure I agree. My pilot Sports on my M3 were soft and sticky for performance. In cold weather they turned into hockey pucks and were worthless
