Truck not starting up

So for a few months Ive had random non start ups. I hear a single click right below me, but the truck doesn't start. It doesnt crank either. At first it seemed like the button itself wasnt working, but 1. the truck turns on (not the engine tho) 2. this last time I heard a click from some component under me when I pressed the button. By under me I mean under the front half of the cab. Usually the truck starts up after a few tries. I have the toyota platinum so I dont doubt it will be covered, but Im wondering what it is? Have any of you guys experienced this? Any guesses on what it is? My rear facing LED bar started acting up and then completely went out, but its switch still turns on. Could they be related?

 

What’s the security light doing when you turn the ignition on?

 

Are you getting any messages on the center display? I wonder if it is not seeing the brake being applied.

 

Sounds like rodents are chewing your harnesses. Ignition harness partially chewed, and reverse led bar totally chewed.

 

Or..... battery issues .

my truck was acting strange before the battery died.

 

Sounds like corrosion to me. Check battery and cables for corrosion, check the ground going to the fender on the driver's side.

 

Don't they require you have your foot on the brake to start? If the brake switch is acting up, it might be causing an issue.

 

Could be a bad ground connection somewhere or a relay. Anyone know if the starter button and light bar are on the same circuit ?

Maybe so, I have lately seen many rats around my house

 

I put in a new northstar in the summer so I doubt it.

 

I replaced the factory with a northstar when it went out in the summer. I also changed the connections then.

 

Might be it. I aitn checking squat tho, thats what I got the toyota platinum for lol

 

I worry for you. Have a good look under there. If you see chew marks, or nesting material, get the truck to the dealer before it dies for good.

 

Yeah Im taking it over tomorrow.

 

Try to the tighten the connectors including the ground.

 

And on the way home stop by the shelter and adopt a cat.

 

And then stop by a church and get a drive-thru exorcism, just to be sure. Make sure its a Catholic one though, all the others are watered down.
