I will be returning home to Alaska in a few weeks. My truck has been in cold storage for 4 months. When I left I it fresh oil in and disconnected the battery. Is there anything I should do before I hook it up and crank it over? I have been doing this with my 02 4runner for years and all had been ok, however now with a new truck with only 6,000 miles I really want to take all precautions and. M not sure this will cause any internal damage.

The battery will probably need a boost if it was left out in the cold with the truck.

Id check the oil, and go thru the fluids and make sure everything is where it should be. Other than that, crank her up let it get to operating temp, and put the old italian tune up in her

hopefully you put fuel stabilizer in it before you stored it. if not 4 months should be OK but that is stretching it.

If I was leaving mine in storage, I would (if possible) leave the battery in, hooked up to a battery tender. When I take it out, start it up, let it idle for a minute or two and start driving. My neighbors are snowbirds from AZ and they do this for six months at a time with their Honda mini-van and they've had no issues.

I have cars I park for 9 months out of the year, a 1973 dodge challenger, and a 1991 BMW convertible. Neither one do I use stabil in, neither one has trouble starting in the spring. Been doing it for the past 15 years and never had a issue.

Both are stored in a garage in MN, lowest it gets in the garage is about 20 degrees.

I check oil, if its good I back it out and then look at what fluids I leaked onto the cardboard under it. Then top up the fluids I find.

ThNks everyone. I do the same to my other vehicles. Put stabilizer in all including lawnmower. Just wanted to check about the newer engine sitting without oil lubricating internals for extended periods and then just turning over. Thanks for the feedback.
