Man, I'm looking to do the same thing. I like that idea. Where did you screw the rails into? The pre-existing holes tie down track??

PS-I live in Kyle. We're practically neighbors.

The rack bolts to the bed rails with 1/2" bolts, and square nuts. the square nuts slip into the rail, and are large enough so that when you start to tighten them, they dont turn all the way around, and they catch. I have been looking for a better solution to that part, but with 8 bolts like that it stays extremely sturdy.

I go through Kyle a couple days a week going to Austin. I probably see you on the road every now and then.

I happened upon one of the goal post hitch things cheap and decided to get it for those close trips where I don't need the bed for other stuff. It is nice option that is quick and easy vs. all the bolting on of adapters for the Thule Xsporter. It holds both 12' kayaks just fine..............

    plasti dipped wheel caps,
Try "hitch bed extender" I had one for my kayak, but sold it and the kayak due to $ issues and not the right yak. I had bought mine from Cabela's in summer'12 had it for a while. worked great for needs. could also switch around for roof support instead of bed support

"HITCH BED EXTENDERS" I believe is what they are called. check ebay, Amazon, CL, etc

Hidden GPS tracking system. Backflip cover, weather techs, bed mat, tailgate lock, OME 885 springs, blistein shocks, 2.5 in AAL/
Hitch bed extender is what I use. Made it myself. I used a trailer for a while (and still do sometime). I have a backflip bed cover so either of these options work for me.
