When my buddy had his 2019 trd he complained the truck did weird things like it needed an exorcist. Didn't hear any complaints about accelerating on its own though. He mostly complained about the vibrations, and lack of power.

I had it happen one time going about 15 mph in my neighborhood.

No cruise control just regular driving.
My foot came off the accelerator since I was going to turn left.
The truck just started accelerating on it’s own for a quick second or so but I interrupted it by getting on the breaks hard.

It left me in shock and thinking wtf just happened.
Pissed me off thinking if I had a manual trans I would have just instinctually hit the clutch pedal and throw it in neutral.

It has never happened again though.

a note about our cruise control, unlike cars a decade ago these things WILL activate the brakes on its own, despite having your foot on the gas.
I've cursed some teslas for braking in the dumbest of situations (braking uphill, braking when encountering a green in the middle of the intersection) until the very thing happened to me coming from vegas.
The radar 'sensitivity' setting determines a hard boundary where the car will do what it can to keep that distance, gone are the days of having cruise on, stepping on the gas to pass someone and letting cruise take over when you coast back down to the set speed.
No, this fucker will lock the brakes and fight you as you give it more gas because you are getting too close for its setting.
My passenger screaming is my distance warning and she was still in 'close my eyes and breathe' mode so, plenty of margin!

It’s the truck accelerating (going faster down the road), or just the engine RPMs increasing (revving)? That’s two different topics of discussion.

That is very true. For me, usually it last only a second or two, quick rev up, with engine sound but no actual acceleration or lunging of the truck. Pressing the brake pedal stops the reving or just letting it rev up then it will go away. I’ve never been able to do it by trying. It’s also never seemed like an actual shifting of gears happened but that’s what it seems like. I’ve tried driving in S mode limiting gears to see as well and couldn’t ever get it to happen.
