Luckily I was on my street when it just died out of the blue, was able to roll into my driveway, put it in park and fires back up. I do have gas in it lol. Hooked up the scanner and all it’s showing me is a “Possible DTC”, last week it was giving me a Throttle Position Stuck Open P111, ever since I cleaned my MAF sensor and throttle body. Other than that it’s been running ok. Noticed yesterday it was surging while driving, removed the pedal commander thinking that was the culprit. Thinking that the computer needed to relearn the idle and etc.

RPMs surging while parked, I might think vacuum leak. While driving? Maybe fuel pump. That's been my experience :notsure:

Did you disconnect the battery when you cleaned it?

No surging at all, sitting at 750ish rpm.

I didn’t. Disconnected battery afterwards though.

Not sure if anyone sees anything wrong here.

All looks good to me, I asked about disconnecting the battery because sometimes cleaning the TB without resetting the PCM can cause idle issues.

Im not sure if this would affect it or not but I did depress the gas with the ignition switch on to open throttle body. I’ve done it before without any issues. :(

I don't see why it would as long as you didn't force the throttle blade, I prefer opening it manually with the truck off and throttle unplugged and cleaning it but I've seen it done both ways with no issues.

I didn’t do anything out of the ordinary or any different. Truck fired right up and all is fine…I don’t get it.

That's just monitors that haven't ran since the codes were cleared, not really useful to look at for your issue.

I’m stressing…I’m driving my truck as we speak (picking my up son from school) and everything seems perfectly normal. Just doesn’t make sense there’s “pending/possible DTC” but no codes.

The only time I ever experienced anything like that was in a Ram w/5.7 engine. The engine would just shut completely off if you let off throttle fast. Such as getting off an exit ramp. It would only do it like 1 or 2 times ever few months. Finally threw an ECT code for the Electronic Controlled Throttle.

Replace the whole thing with a new one and it never did it again.

I am by no means saying that’s your problem. I’m just saying I know the feeling. It sucks when it happens and you can’t replicate the problem. I got lucky and it finally “broke” bad enough to fix it.

Maybe the fuel pump resistor? Had something like that happen in the past. Just died. It would start, run a few seconds and die.
(It’s right in front of the battery. You can unplug it and jump it and it will run, but don’t let it go too long. As in get a new one asap.)

Check engine light came on while driving, P101…erased it and it’s off for now. I’m going to try and clean the MAF sensor again and go from there. Will also clean the throttle body, replace gasket and go from there.

This is why I no longer touch a MAF sensor for any reason, really not necessary to clean them. I had the same thing happen to me years ago AFTER I cleaned a perfectly good one for preventive maintenance. Never again.
