Ok, so I hopped in the truck after running errands yesterday, and when I started the engine, it randomly revved like 4 or 5 times (with the RPMs also obviously shooting up). I was sitting with the truck in park, and it was like rev....rev....rev... I've never seen this before, or since. Is there any explanation for this? The person I was with, who was outside the truck, thought I was just revving the engine like an idiot. lol

I'm sure it's probably nothing, but I figured I'd let the experts here tell me if this was something I should keep an eye on.

    Thanks.

They didn't go too high - like around 1k. And the AC was off.

Defrost wasn't on, no. I just had the fan going, heat set to the mid level.

    Defrost wasn't going.

I hope that isn't it - but if it is, I guess I'll get to use those 6 years of Toyota warranty I bought. lol

Your rev's jumped to 1k? Mine starts at 1200-1300, then comes down to a steady 1000 before it levels out. Does yours normally idle below 1k? I'd be more worried about that.

No, you're right. It was probably more around 2k. Regardless, it wasn't a ton. Once it's warmed up, though, mine usually idles around 600-700.

Hey I have a suggestion I had to do this with my car I do bought the extra warranty

Go on the Toyota page and find your warranty coverage and print it off and bring it with you for any job you do a lot of the service guys will try to tell you the warranty doesn’t cover things you try and use your warranty for and you have to show them that it does then they are gonna say oh normal wear and tear

I find that extra warranty is a scam

It’s like trying to pull teeth

    For my stealership anyway

They are your best friend until you buy a vehicle

Huh, hopefully that is it then. Maybe I wasn't paying attention and was moving the wheel.
