My 97 tacoma with a 2.7L idles bads. The check engine light is on and when you go down the road it has no power. The check engine light flashes when you are driving. I hook it up to a Snap On scanner and it said that cylinder 2 has a miss fire. So I went to the auto parts store and bought new plugs. The old plugs were really black. I also check the wires too and I just replace them 2 years ago with the plugs. What could it be? Could it be the fuel filter? Could it be a coil pack? Need anymore info let me know.

well it could be alot of things.just because you bought the wires 2 years ago they could still be bad.you can check for them arcing out by connecting a test light to ground and running it along the wire.also look on the porcilen part of your spark plug for thin black lines this indicates that your wire is arcing out,if so replace plugs and wires.if your ignition system checks out allright you need to do a compression check.usualy with a clogged fuel filter you would see missfires on multiple cylinder's but it coul still be a possibility.

See the weird thing is that I started it up to go somewhere, I let it warm up. I started down the road, I got like a half a mile, made a turn but didn't stop. I got back on the gas and it had no power and started to buck and wanted to stall. It felt like I had no brakes and I got it back home.

    No mods whatsoever!
Check your firing order. Is it possible you have two wires crossed? That would be a power issue and could cause brake issues due to no vacuum? Just thinking out loud. It's difficult to diagnose without the truck in front of me.

My old truck did that but only when I hit 60 on the highway, it was the spark plugs I would get it fully tuned up by a professional my guess would be that your firing order is outta whack

My firing order is right cause the wires are only so long and I didn't take the wires off all at once, one at a time I did. I think it is a injector. I am going to pull the fuel rail off and check the injectors and check the compression. There was no noise for the truck. Also the brakes are find now I think that with me trying to get it back home, riding the brakes and giving it gas so it wouldn't stall has to do with no brakes at the time. Thanks so far for your input anymore let me know.

I would say testing the injectors would be a good idea then hope you find your problem good luck

Found the problem it was the wires they were cracked and stuff. So I replaced the wires and fuel filter since its been 3 1/2 years or more for the filter. Thanks again for the advice guys. Now I can try to sell it again.
