TRUCK SCAM, ANY HELP OR ADVICE!!!????

I recently bought this truck ( http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/2n...oma-dc-prerunner-trd-sport-sr5-minnesota.html ) from a member on here, ( http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/members/boostedblack99.html ) and long story short the guy lied to me and failed to mention major body work and defects with the truck. I got a quote today on some body work and it was over $4,300 not including everything. The guy is persistent that this thing is considered good condition when it is a complete pile of shit. He is unwilling to pay for the repairs or give me any money back. the only defects he told me about were a few small paint chips. This guy completely ripped me off and acts like im the one in the wrong, he sold me a piece of shit truck and said it was something that it wasnt. the truck was shipped from mn to ca so i didnt see it till i had already paid for it. If anyone one has any advice on what i can do to maybe get some money back or where i can file a complaint i would greatly appreciate it. i am kinda at a loss as to what i should do? I would advise to under no circumstances buy from this guy if he tries selling on here again. I did not know where else to post this so im hoping buy/sell/trade is the appropriate forum. p.s i do not need comments on what i did wrong i already know i made a big mistake...

paid 13800 for truck not the 12800 on ebay.

no damage occured during shipping, truck was in same condition throughout entire sale.

 

what were the damages you say that there was a ton of body work needed you should list what he did not tell you was wrong with the truck

Did the carfax show the major repair work?

 

Hopefully you used paypal so you have someone to deal with. Or you bought it off e bay. If not go file in court.

Looked at the ebay auction you posted. Did you read the Ebay auction details about vehicle history report? I looked at the ebay auction and saw that it had a vehicle history report that clearly talked about 2 accidents. One was on 04-12-07 and said "minor to moderate damage" and the other just says "03-20-08 accident reported". I copied some of what it said, here it is:

His ebay listing says
Small rock chips that can be expected on a 4 year old truck, very hard to notice unless within a couple feet. One small ding on the tailgate the size of a dime. Paint is in great condition and no damage anywhere.

Did you ask him if it had damage before maybe it was the shipper as well. But either way pretty crappy. Seems you can file a claim with ebay. Take pictures and document everything emails phone calls who and when you talked to them. And best of luck!

hes only owned the vehicle for 5 months. he MAY not have known about the body work if it looks fine from the outside and he never take a good look. but you may be SOL since it says 2 accidents on the carfax. just my opinion

 

is there any damage thats not shown on his pics? because besides the chips in front bumper which mine looks the same, it looks good. Now.. I know you dont want to hear this, but its been through 6 states with 4 owners and also listed as fleet vehicle.

But... If the truck looks like it does in the pics, and it's operationally fine. for 12800 you still got a pretty good deal.

12500 is not a bad price even if it needs a little body work maybe shop around for a cheaper bid

 

Damn, that thing got passed around like a cheap whore. How many different auctions was it at? As far as a scam though, the seller never lied, and the truck seems to be in good condition, especially for that price.

 

Yeah I don't really see how the seller is even involved with any of the body damage as he didn't even own the vehicle when the body damage or accidents occurred. So as mentioned he probably didn't even know about them so how is he responsible for something that he didn't even do? He posted the Carfax, and it clearly says it was in an accident. If you got that truck for $12,500 you got a hell of a deal.

 

OP... Was there damage incurred during the shipping of the vehicle to you?

 

Like the others said carfax. & you paid, you own. He doesn't have to give you your money back.

Think of it as one of life's lessons. Next time get the carfax before buying, take it to a mechanic & pay to have it checked.

 

If the truck looks like it does in the picture there is nothing you can do about this. Even if there is 5 inches of bondo on the thing. The fact is he says he hasnt owned it very long and he posted the carfax on the ebay listing. Unless you can prove he knew of the damage before he sold it you have no course of action available. Pictures or a detailed description of what is wrong would help us tell you if it really is a piece of shit though. Sad to say 4300 dollars isnt much when it comes to a reputable body shop these days. I can tell you from the carfax it was rearended and that probably means a new bumper, and bedside. The other accident was probably cosmetic as well, since any major damage to frame or suspension would have given the truck a salvaged title.

I had a similar experience with my truck and i got it from a TOYOTA dealer. I found 2 pieces of paper work saying the truck had major repair, or so i thought. I raised hell at toyota before I took it to a high end body shop who told me the truck had just been repainted and everything was listed in such detail because it was paid for by the insurance and shops try to take ins comps for everything they can.
