    Hey Y'all,

The other day I was in the drive through at Chik-Fil-A and I started to get a lot of vibration from the front of my truck. After a minute or two it stopped.

This morning I'm headed to work and my truck started to shake pretty good. I pulled over because I thought I might of had a flat tire and everything was good. When I started the truck back up my engine light came on and the shaking started again.

I plan on dropping the truck off at the shop after work. I was either thinking that its something with my cylinder or spark plugs.

    What are yalls thoughts?

Bet it's a coil pack or wire. They will tell you.

    Is that a simple fix?

You sure it's not just a tire out of balance? Was the vibration proportional to your speed?

If it was a coil pack, bad spark or misfire the CEL should have been flashing. Generally speaking, a flashing CEL on almost any vehicle indicates a misfire that can be caused by a number of problems. At idle, it could be the IAC or a vacuum problem causing the "rough idle". If you turn off the AC does it appear to idle better? If it didn't have a CEL that was flashing, it could be a simple as the MAF needs to be cleaned or the truck is running lean. You need to get the code scanned and let us know what code it is throwing.

It's not a tire issue because I still have the shaking even when I am not moving.

When my old '98 had misfires, the check engine never flashed, but it was steadily lit. Changed the plugs and it was fine. I've never seen the check engine light flash on and off on these trucks. With first gens at least.

That is odd. My 2000 flashed when I had a similar problem. If that is the case, then it may very well be a coil pack. I had an 02 F150 that had a bad coil (intermittently) and caused all kinds of problems.

It may be a misfire. I have no experience with any imports prior to my 2000 taco. Everything else I have had (mustangs) would flash the CEL if it found a misfire. With that said, take it to Autozone/etc, they will pull the codes for free. let us know what you find and someone on TW can probably help you with what to check.

Yeah that's what I'm dealing with right now (and it's a nightmare)...a lean fuel system. Truck runs fine, maybe idles a bit rough, but with a lean fuel system you could seriously end up damaging a piston if you don't get it taken care of. Could be anything from a bad/dirty MAF or o2 sensor, clogged injectors, leak in a vacuum line, cracked exhaust....

Dropped the car off at the shop. The computer said misfire on cylinder 1. He said he was going to take a look at the spark plug and wires. Could it be the fuel pump?

It's most likely the coils and wires.

I'm hoping it's something simple like that.

My buddy had a 96 Tacoma that started missing due to plugs and wires but the engine light only flashed once time after about an hour of driving although it was missing constantly.

My '06 is having a similar problem. At around 40 mph, under light acceleration, the engine occasionally misses. CEL came on and the code was for a misfire on cylinder 4. I replaced all plugs and coil pax and still have the same problem. Took it to the dealer, and they said it was a bad coil pack, but I'm not buying it (Just replaced them). The CEL doesn't come on any more, but the problem persists. I'm thinking a bad fuel injector? Any thoughts?
