So have a 1998 3.4 4x4 Manual truck that shakes from 60-70 on the freeway.
Has been shaking ever since I bought the truck.

Truck is lifted on DR coil overs and Total Chaos Upper Control arms.
    Alignment was in spec.
Rear has a custom Cantilever SUA set up.
    1" Body Lift

Recently went through and tried to cure the shaking by replacing
    -Lower Ball Joints
    -Tie Rods
    -Steering Rack
    -Steering Rack Bushings
    -Carrier Bearing
-Both U joints on the rear drive shaft(Didn't do the double cardan joint)
-Upper Control arms have newish uni balls
-Greased Front Drive shaft, and rear as well
    -Alignment done recently
    -Tires Balanced recently

The shaking is one that shakes the whole truck, not so much the steering wheel.

Been chasing this for a while and at a lose.
Read quite a few threads on TW too..
If anyone has any suggestions that'd be great!

im thinking u-joints associated with this "cantilever SUA" setup.

    dafuq is a "cantilever SUA"?

im thinking that is an issue. I cant see where the shocks are actively playing an affect on the "hits" that suspension typically dishes out. maybe air them up to max? or add some temp shocks to see what happens.

Nice set up.. Have you had your wheels balanced... you'd be surprised how much a difference it can make..

That "monstrosity" is a well engineered piece of equipment lol
I don't see that being the issue as it was on a truck previous to mine without issue.
My truck also shook before this was installed.
The shocks damped by swinging on a pivot as the axle moves up and down.

    yes he did

yeah but..... but...... why?! do you even see this kind of setup on trophy trucks? I cant imagine a million dollar race truck would bother with something this heavy. I'd get rid of all that junk and put in some standard shocks.

    Thanks!
Yea had the tires balanced the other week.
Going to get them rotated and see if the vibration shifts to a different part of the truck.
Replacing the front rotors and rear drums as they are warped.

Going to make a CB drop, and pull the front drive shaft temporarily.
Try to pin point the cause

and for Travel Numbers. Can't pull the same travel numbers with standard bolt in shocks.
Personally didn't want to cut into the bed and make a cage.

When you had the tires balanced were they road force balanced or just a normal balance? Sometimes having a set of tires road force balance can help get rid of lingering vibrations.

I had the crazy shakes until I got all new tires.. I dont have any shaking problems anymore.
Maybe have them road force balance if possible

Not sure actually. Didn't know there was a difference honestly ha
A buddy of mine was thinking tires too. I guess before I shell out money for drive shaft balancing I'll try to find someone local who can lend me a set of tires for a few hours

Same thing happened to me. My front end would vibrate between 60 - 75mph. It took 4 times of balancing and rotation. Sometimes they would get the vibration to go away for a half of a day sometimes 10 minutes or just as soon as I left the tire shop before they finally just replaced all 4 tires and now there is no vibration whatsoever. I didn't replace all those parts. They replaced the tires first and if that didn't work then replace parts. I also have Camburg UCA's with Bilstein 5100's on the bottom setting with Eibach 3" coils. Regular 5100's and a 1.5" AAL in the rear. Alignment was fine and so was the whole front end. That's why it was so hard to figure out what was going on. So we started with the most simple thing. Reject Tires! Good luck!

Put the truck up in the air and spin the tires. Look for out-of-roundness, bulges, knots and ETC. Even better is get it on a lift, start the engine and get it up to speed of vibrating.
