So here is the deal, I usually change my oil every 3,000 miles. However, my hood latch cable has been broken and I read that it was alright to go 5,000 miles. I recently had the cable repaired and its been about 5,500 miles since my last change ( I know, not smart ), and I scheduled an appointment to get it changed tomorrow morning. Unfortunately, today on my way to work my truck started to shake whenever I accelerated, and there is also some sputtering when I idle, almost as if it is going to stall out. I checked the oil when I got home and it was barely touching the dipstick. I'm having some oil dropped off to top it off, and won't be driving it until tomorrow on its way into the shop. The temp. gauge never read hot, and my truck has never burned/leaked oil before. Does it sound like I have caused any major damage? I've got my fingers crossed! From now on I stick to 3,000 miles!!

Any other idea's of what it could be?

Ok, so I just realized I read my oil while parked on a small hill. I moved to more level ground and my oil was a little low, but I added a quart and now its back to normal level. So I think I can rule out low oil. I checked the spark plug wires and they all seem to be fine. Hmm... its going to be at the dealership tomorrow for the rust inspection recall and lower ball joint so I can have them troubleshoot it, but I was just wondering what you guys thought...

Measure how much oil it takes to fill or drain. If it's less than 2qts, you're probably in trouble. The engine will run on 1qt, but only when it''s fairly level.
Odds are, it's ignition/fuel injector related. Time for an oil change and tune-up!

Reply, one more thing, I believe its engine/transmission related too, because when I am coasting it doesn't shake/sputter.. Only seems to do that when I accelerate or am at a stop (red light)

Plot thickens.. Check Engine light recently came on throwing codes p0440 441 & 446. I replaced gas cap and the light has been off for the past 3 days. Tonight, as of about 5 minutes ago, the "Check Engine" light has come back on. Now I'm not sure if this shaking has something to do with the prior codes or if this is being caused by something new. Or perhaps its the same codes with the added problem of the shaking!

This is going to be an expensive trip to the dealership tomorrow I think...

What approach to using the Seafoam do you think works the best? I've read a few threads on it and some ppl said Vacuum hose

Vacuum hose is fine. I'm still working on a way to put it through the throttle body to get all the crap out.
Check the codes again. If misfire, Ign or clogged injector. If evap, replace gas cap and see if it comes back.
