Yes yes there is something where you check for liens, I believe it is called a lien check or something complicated like that. You are supposed to get one done before buying a vehichle and the seller is supposed to provide you with documents on it being pad off. However, being that I was an innocent small town boy moving into the big city of jerks I knew nothing of this.

It is almost completely my fault for not doing research into it, however the bank should not have even given me a loan seeing as how there was a lien on the truck an I used it for collateral. If I didn't get my truck back, they would have been shit out of luck as I could have just given them the keys and walked away and let them deal with it. However, being a good citizen who PAYS OFF his loans and cares about shit like credit I would not do something like that.

All in all I am very happy to have my truck back! I am putting this all behind me and moving forward. I am really looking forward to this year as last year sucked balls. So far this year I have gotten my truck back, and my nbrand nee FREE Harley davidson (pictures also to follow).

Thank you all for your advice, mostly the lawyer comments. But now I am off to wash my baby and bask in the glory that comes with being a toyota owner!

    Nice story.
No wonder Edmontonians get laughed at by Calgarians.
The Eskimos and Oilers suck BTW.
Spend $30 on an AMA membership to do a lein check for free next time!

Glad you got your truck back. You are very lucky indeed.

Dilsky, I wanted to ask you about the day your truck was taken.

Was your truck towed off of your private driveway or were you parked on the public street.
I've talked to bailiffs in the past about seizure here in Alberta and they've always said if I'd have to call them when the vehicle was sitting on private property and not on the street. Also, the vehicle had to be checked out ahead of time to make sure it was in the persons name and not leased or owned by some other entity.

I believe just in Alberta, private insurance. In BC we have ICBC which is gov't run. When you fill out a transfer, you state weather or not there is a lean on the truck.
