so i have the bilstein 5100 rear shocks (intsalled 6 months ago) on stock leafs springs and a 1'" inch block, when im on the trails and go over bumps my rear end just slams hard after going over bumps

what would be a quick fix for this? i was thinking of installing the emu dakar leafs hoping this would solve the issue ... what do you guys think?

Yes, Dakars will help...blocks are notorious for making the ride harsh. Get the Dakars for the rear lift and ditch the blocks

Take it to the dealer and get the recall done, then buy a progressive aal before the new leafpack shits itself. Thats if u dont wanna spend for dakars.

Superbumps are a band-aid not a fix right?

I wouldn't call them a band aid but they shouldn't be used in lieu of having the right rear setup. Ditching those blocks should be his #1 priority

They do make a great addition, agreed.
The stock leafpack is shit, blocks accelerate de arching, stock bumps dont forgive.

Spring rate is too light. Bump stops are limiters (end of travel) and shouldn't be a regular occurence since those shocks are transmitted to the axle and bearings which the springs are supposed to protect. Too high a spring rate is just as bad since the springs won't travel enough to soften hits either. Either correct the spring rate with an aal or new pack or slow down enough to ease over the larger hits. If it happens on the road too then you definitely need better springs. Sumo springs are more for occasional extra loading as a less expensive and simpler alternative to a variable spring rate system like air bags.

Before I'd go spending any more money, I'd be looking at the rear suspension - specifically the rear shocks - to see if anything's loose. I've seen shocks installed incorrectly and end up banging around in their mounts. And since the OP has added blocks, I'd be checking U-bolts too. Just a thought.

Have you checked to see if your front right bed mount screw looks like it’s raised up at all? I just had to pull the screw out and sandwhich a chunk of rubber between where the bed contacts the frame. The composite bed mounts wear out causing a gap and when the bed bounces up and down it’s loud AF. Only happens going over bumps.

I have the TSB rear springs and a 1" lift block. Never heard of a 1" Block causing a rough ride before now. Sure 100% springs would be better but in reality it depends on what you are after whether it's worth the cost for the end result you are looking for. Many trucks came with much taller than a 1"block as OE and were never blamed for a harsh ride. Before I installed my Fox shocks and after I removed the existing shocks I bounced the rear up and down by hand. That thing moved easily and my TSB springs are not the cause of a harsh ride. They support the weight for the most part. If you have a rough ride in the rear you can blame the shocks and the air pressure in the tires more than springs . If Bilstein makes the 5100's for these trucks anything like they do for Jeep Wrangler or Ram's they are pretty much the reason for the rough ride. I have had them on more Jeeps and Rams than I care to admit and usually they were replaced by something else when I could afford it and the ride improved. For the most part with shocks you tend to get what you pay for .

Can you unbolt the top of one of your rear shocks? I'd do this, jack the back end up placing the jack under the rear diff, put jack stands under the frame and slowly let the jack down. If the side with the unbolted shock drops significantly more than the side with the shock still attached, you might be hitting the end of your travel with the shocks and getting some jarring with that. IF that's the case, you can install Toytech shock extenders on the top of each shock.

    Just a thought.....

What air pressure do you run in the tires?

Same for the front bumps, upgrading those was a big improvement for me even with Kings up front
